Got a feeling Buffalo is going to release Von Miller

Am I reading too much into his Instagram?

It's a highlight reel. I'm not sure how that would signify Buffalo is going to release him. They might, but I don't see this as a sign.

They aren't cutting him.

His base is 1.5 million for the season, (15 million on the cap).  Cutting him incurs a 30 million hit, actually losing cap space for the year.  I guess you could somehow move money around, but cutting him only save 1.5 million for this year, which is backup money.   Better to keep him and see if he has anything left in the tank.

We're post June 1 now, so you're reading that wrong - they'd save a whopping 280K on this year's cap while carrying a 15M dead cap hit, and then have 15M in dead cap for next year. But it's the same conclusion - there's no point to cutting him if you're the Bills.

I am pretty sure Von is price prohibitive for them to release. As in, it would cost them more money to release him than keep him. Someone correct me if I'm wrong there, but his contract has $51m guaranteed:

At that point, they may as well keep him for his experience and playoff leadership. A couple playoff sacks could make it all worth it for them.

Sorry, yes I read that wrong.

But, they save 280K, and have to sign a replacement, which will cost more (the league minimum is much higher than that).  Keep him, see if he has anything left, and cut him next year.

To answer the other question: no real interest in Miller unless he'll sign for close to the veteran minimum just to spite the Bills.

With his recent health issues id rather the younger guys just get those reps. I will say, though, it might be a fun way to spite Reddick lol

The Bills are in trouble.  Outside of Josh Allen, a decent defense and a nice, young tight end, they do not have much.

They are going to drop off big time and a new regime will be in there next year.

Ours? We can swap.

Agreed.  Especially with Milano out, they feel like a 9-win team.  And that's with NE spotting them 2.

Yup.  They are a great example of a team thats run its course.  Time for a major change to spice things up.

They need a new message and a new voice in there.  An offensive HC would be best.

It's on spotrac but not OTC -- his whole compensation this year is $9MM and Buffalo already paid him $7MM of it as a roster bonus. Probably his base salary is guaranteed, too, as part of a deal to cut his pay in half from $17MM.

Keeping him this year at that amount is their soft landing out of a terrible contract extension.

Miller's not getting cut this year unless he tries to choke Kim Pegula & drag her around by the hair, too.

Yeah, usually August around Western, NY is insufferable for us non-Bills fans.  Might just be me, but it seems REALLY quiet so far around here.  Feels like Bills fans just are nowhere near as excited for football season as they have been in years past.
