OilfieldJet
…or wait until the last minute? On the early release, perhaps this gives a player a better chance to be signed by another team. A player that did nothing wrong, played hard, but maybe, for example, was a cut because of a crowded position (like DL) and in the players best interest, the Jets make a decision and release him today. Or, hoping to “sneak through” a quality player onto the practice squad, do you wait until the last hour and release all of them? Can you really sneak someone through? Larz
JD has a track record of doing right by guys they aren’t keeping but can stick with another team by cutting them early so they get their own 15 minutes so to speak on the waiver wire. where it gets tricky is when you want to see what might be available before you cut someone you legitimately would say is 50/50 or the 54th guy. Any player you would like to put on the practice squad, I would wait until the very last minute. Why would you give other teams time to ponder whether to snatch up your player? On the other hand, if you have no intention of wanting that player, then by all means, cut them early.
