Prior to New York, Eguavoen, who went undrafted in 2015, played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL from 2016-18. The Texas Tech product went on to sign with the Dolphins and spend four seasons with Miami (2019-2023) prior to joining the Jets. He's played in 71 career games and has 75 tackles, 4 sacks, 16 QB hits, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 pass defenses. OL Obinna Eze (6-8, 315) Eze, who is of Nigerian descent and played in college at Memphis and TCU, was an undrafted free agent by Detroit in 2022, a final cut by the Lions in '23 and a three-week practice-squad signing by Pittsburgh later that year. Eze signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January and in May was moved by the team to the NFL's International Pathway Program. He played 65 preseason snaps this month on the Jets offensive line. TE Anthony Firkser (6-2, 246) Firkser joined the Jets for training camp five years after the Green & White first signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard in 2017. During the preseason, he played recorded 3 receptions for 34 yards. He most recently played with the Lions and appeared in two regular season games and three postseason games last season. His first professional game action came with the Titans in 2018 where he played through the '21 season. Firkser, who went to Manalapan High School in New Jersey, played game (3 starts) for the Titans before a stint with the Falcons in 2022 where he played 11 games. Over his five-year career, Firsker has played in 71 games (4 starts) and amassed 115 receptions for 1,207 yards and 5 touchdowns. OL Jake Hanson (6-4, 303) Hanson re-signed with the Jets as restricted free agent in March after spending the majority of the 2023 season on the team's practice squad. He was elevated two games in Weeks 11 and 13 before being signed to the active roster on Dec. 9. He played in 7 games (4 starts) at right guard. In 2020, Hanson, 26, was drafted by the Packers in the sixth round out of Oregon. He played in 11 games (1 start) at center for Green Bay over two seasons. In November 2022, he was placed on Injured Reserve and then later waived. In three professional seasons Hanson has played in 18 games (5 starts) primarily at right guard. DL Bruce Hector (6-2, 296) Hector signed with the Jets' practice squad last December and was promoted to the active roster on Jan. 6. Before that, he had spent the summer with the Jets and played with the Arlington Renegades of the XFL. Hector played in three games for the Lions in 2022 and had 5 tackles on 52 snaps. He first signed with the Eagles in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of South Florida and has had stints with the Cardinals (2019), the Panthers (2020) and the Titans (2021). Hector has played in 16 career games (1 start) and had 11 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and 2 QB hits. DL Jalyn Holmes (6-5, 283) Holmes, drafted by the Vikings out of Ohio State in 2018, re-signed with Jets in March. He played five games for the Green & White last season and recorded 5 tackles and a QB hit. Prior to the Jets, he spent three seasons with Minnesota (2018-20) and accounted for a sack, 4 tackles for loss and 5 QB hits. He then did one-year stints with the Saints (2021) and Bears (2022). He signed with Chicago after spending training camp with the Giants. For his career, Holmes has played in 39 games (10 starts) and registered 2.0 sacks, 65 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 pass defenses and 6 QB hits. S Jaylen Key (6-0, 208) Key, the last pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, totaled 11 tackles on 132 snaps in three preseason games. He spent five seasons at Alabama-Birmingham before transferring to Alabama for the 2023 season. He started all 12 games for the Crimson Tide and recorded 60 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 2 passes defensed. TE Zack Kuntz (6-8, 251) Kuntz was the Jets' seventh-round pick (220th overall) out of Penn State and Old Dominion in the 2023 draft. In his first pro preseason, he caught a TD pass from Tim Boyle at Carolina. He spent the first 15 weeks of last season on the Jets' practice squad, did not play in Game 16, and made his pro debut in Game 17 at New England with 2 offensive snaps and 4 more on special teams, He logged one catch for 9 yards on 87 offensive plays and added 34 ST snaps in the three preseason games in August before he was waived. He helps repopulate the Jets' TEs room after Tuesday's cuts left them with just Tyler Conklin and Jeremy Ruckert on the active roster. OL Kohl Levao (6-5, 324) Levao signed with the Jets in June and played 168 snaps this preseason, the most among any offensive player on the team. Before the Jets, he most recently played for the San Antonio Brahmas of the USFL at both guard spots. He lined up at center and guard for the University of Hawaii. Levao, who allowed one sack in 2021 and was an All-Mountain West honorable mention, posted a pass protection success rate of 97%. Born in America Samoa, Levao has experience at LG, C, RG and RT. QB Adrian Martinez (6-2, 220) Martinez signed with the team in July and threw for 270 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception this preseason while completing 53.2% of his passes. He played with the Birmingham Stallons in the United Football League (UFL) before joining the Jets, earning MVP honors while passing for 1,749 yards and 15 TDs in addition to leading the league with 528 yards rushing. The Nebraska/Kansas State product, who went undrafted in 2023, initially signed a free agent deal with the Detroit Lions and spent last preseason with them. Martinez (6-2, 220) appeared in 49 college games from 2018-22 and hit on 63.6% of his passes for 9,752 yards with 51 TDs and 31 TDs. LB Marcelino McCrary-Ball (6-0, 214) McCrary-Ball joins the Jets practice squad after spending a majority of the 2023 with the Green & White. The former Indiana Hoosier signed with Jets p-squad last August before being added to the active roster in January. He appeared in two games for the Green & White and 19 special teams snaps. McCrary-Ball began his career with the 49ers signing as an undrafted free agent out of Indiana in 2022. He spent two training camps with San Francisco before joining the Jets midway through the '23 season WR Lance McCutcheon (6-3, 203) McCutcheon, an undrafted free agent signing by the Rams in 2022, spent last season on the Jets practices squad. He signed a reserve/future contract in January and now returns to the Green & White. In 2023, he was waived by the Rams as a part of final roster cuts and signed with Texans p-squad before being released in October. McCutcheon, who went to Montana State, played in all three preseason games for the Jets this summer and recorded 2 receptions for 25 yards. He has appeared 10 games (1 start) but has yet to register a reception. S Jarius Monroe (6-2, 205) Monroe, signed by the Jets as an undrafted free agent from Nicholls and Tulane, represented the Green Wave in this year's East-West Shrine Bowl and was named the Defensive MVP. Following the '24 draft, Monroe transitioned from CB to S with the Jets and got starts at his new position in the final two preseason games, logged 123 defensive snaps in the three games combined and finished the summer with 16 tackles, tied for second on the Green & White with LB Zaire Barnes and trailing only LB Chazz Surratt's 18 tackles. CB Kendall Sheffield (5-10, 212) Sheffield, a fourth-round pick of the Falcons in 2019, appeared in 38 games (20 starts) for the Falcons from 2019-21 and registered 101 tackles, 6 PDs and 2 FF. Last season, he had short stints on the 49ers and Titans practice squads. The former Ohio State Buckeye will continue to play for defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, a defensive assistant and coordinator with Falcons during Sheffield's first two pro seasons. WR Brandon Smith (6-2, 215) Smith signed with the Green & White Aug. 2 and led the team with 120 receiving yards on 5 catches. Before the Jets, he played in the UFL for the D.C. Defenders where he had 18 catches, 208 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Iowa product went undrafted in 2020 and has spent time with both the Cowboys and Cardinals rosters, but has not appeared in a regular season game. Smith totaled 91 receptions, 1,046 yards and 9 touchdowns for the Hawkeyes in 39 games. CB Tre Swilling (6-0, 196) Swilling, the son of College Football Hall of Fame and Saints/Lions/Raiders Pro Bowl LB Pat Swilling, was signed as an undrafted FA by Tennessee after the '22 draft. He was on the rosters of the Titans, Saints, 49ers — for whom he played in his only two pro games last season — and Ravens. Baltimore waived him July 22 and less than two weeks later he signed with the Jets and played in all three preseason games, totaling 73 defensive snaps and 30 snaps on ST, recording two tackles and a pass defense and forcing a fumble by the Giants on the opening kickoff of the teams' preseason finale that the Jets recovered and converted into an opening-drive FG. RB Xazavian Valladay (6-0, 200) Valladay was an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State after the 2023 draft who spent summer time with Houston and Pittsburgh before joining the Jets practice squad after final cutdown last August. He spent most of the season on the practice squad before making his Jets and NFL debut with 12 ST plays in the snowy season finale against the Patriots. It usually takes a little longer with guys you are adding to the PS from other teams, because they have to fly in and take a physical.
