JetNation
Is New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick finally ready to end his holdout and come to work? We can’t say for sure, but all indications point to that happening in the very near future. Embroiled in a contract standoff that has left him with millions of dollars in fines, Reddick still took the time to show up to an event in New Jersey to sign merch for fans. An odd decision if he has no plans on playing for them any time soon. This was reported by Connor Hughes of SNY. Showing up for a local event is one thing, but doing it on the same day that the team restructured a pair of contracts to free up $8 million in cap space? That’s what was reported by NFL insider Field Yates, who says the Jets re-worked the contracts of Quincy Williams and Tyler Conklin to create a bit room. So while nothing is official as of yet, this is the first sign we’ve seen that the end of Reddick’s holdout may be near. The post Reddick to Report? JoJoTownsell1
It's also possible that freed up the cap space for the michael Carter deal..... but fingers crossed it was for reddick.

Could be, but it seems more likely if they're moving others to better fit Reddick, it'd be more indicative that they're not adjusting Reddick's contract (or at least, not yet). If they're reworking Reddick's deal it's no more difficult to push a bunch of Reddick's money to next year instead of what they did with Conklin & Q2, even if it's just adding void years rather than any true extension. Sperm Edwards
@Doggin94it since I still have no desire to search the CBA for this answer (and it may not be spelled out in there anyway): If they rework Reddick's contract - even if it has no additional money nor any real extension years in it - so the bulk of it is now up-front bonus that lowers his season's base salary to the vet minimum, would the fines of the prior amounts still prevail? My guess is yes, since that was the contract in place while he was holding out, but I wonder if that exists as a loophole to get around the 3 game-check fines for the preseason games. The $50K/day fines would be unchanged because that's a flat amount dictated for any player still under a veteran contract, of course. If such a maneuver was doable, though, then they're still fining him but now the fines would be lower (a LOT lower): it could change the preseason game fines from ~$800K x 3 to ~$60K x 3, as the former represents some 70% of the fines & forfeited bonus money he's accumulated to date. Missing out on $1MM sucks, but $1MM isn't $3.5MM. The team should be happy to do that since they're paying out the same amount (and the total cap hits are unchanged); just that the final recipient is Reddick instead of the charity set up by the league. Yes, I think so. But I don't know if that's expressly covered in the CBA
