Scott Dierking
Saw this thread late. My son and I were in the Cadillac Club about three years ago, had gathered our food and drinks and were looking for a place to sit down and consume our gatherings. I look around and there, sitting by himself was a recognizable figure. It was Eddie Kranepool. I sheepishly ask if he minds if we sit down beside him. He says "absolutely, join, me". My son, who was only 22 at the time wasn't familiar with Kranepool, and I tell him how he is practically the Mets leader in most statistical categories. Original Met who came to the club as a rookie at the tender age of 18. Kranepool acts like it is nothing. I tell him that my son is a college pitcher, and he proceeds into a 10 minute conversation about baseball with my son. Not acting like any kind of hot shot, former glory player. Kranepool's wife joins us sitting down and fully becomes immersed in conversation. Best encounter with an athlete in my life.
