Aaron Rodgers - 2nd half brilliance

Aaron Rodgers has been extremely underwhelming and can barely get the team out of the huddle at this point.
He has 0 ability to throw the ball down the field.
If this is the aaron rodgers we got, this team is going nowhere.
He needs to play much, much better than what we have seen 2 weeks in.

He can get the ball down the field fine. He needs to stop looking for his boy lazard. We have other players that can make plays.

You can't ask for more than getting the dub while building continuity.  It's his 2nd game in almost 2 years.

The Revenge Tour was always going to be a cessna at the start that will be an F16 by Christmas.

Was never going to break the sound barrier out of the gates.

Haters need to recognize.

You've managed to stave off the calls for impeachment until at least Thursday!  :)

Brilliance is a bit strong, but what they did get - what they didn't have in recent years - is that on their last scoring drive in the 4th they scored a TD to go up by 7 instead of just 3.

When teams are on 4-down possessions (i.e. a team trailing, on its final 4th quarter possession), as long as they have adequate time on the clock it's not that hard to get into FG range to tie it up. Titans were able to do that, but 3 wouldn't have done them any good.

Going up by 7, in what was likely to be the team's final possession, was huge (not to mention very un-Jets-like). Ugly AF that it might've gotten unraveled by yet another would-be delay of game, but credit to them, from 2nd & 16 they moved the chains to set up Allen's game-winning TD run.

Know what wasn't brilliant? Throwing it so far downfield on 3rd & 2 unless Lazard was standing all by himself wide open by 8 yards.

Second game better than the first.  It’s progress.  What someone has to explain to me is how we literally never scheme to create an open receiver.  One yard drop back for 4 yard toss.  2 step back trying for a quick crosser over the middle.  Recognize coverage float ball out to the post hoping receiver recognizes coverage, makes the right move, and still has to hope for perfect throw and catch because there is zero separation.  It’s nice to know we have this to bank on but it’s not sustainable. Can we ever, literally ever, create an open receiver more than 3 yards down the field? Counting on 15 play drives where we have to grind out 12 first downs ain’t gonna cut the mustard over the balance of this season.

Rodgers has been ok so far which is much better than we’ve gotten at the position in a long time.   I think the most noticeable difference with ar is his total lack of mobility and ability to make something happen outside of the pocket.   He’s basically a statue back there at this point which is still better than most but not what made him an all-time great

Brilliant?

no

He’s been underwhelming, so far.

what mattered today is that he came down the field when he had to, going 5 for 5 and throwing an absolute dime to Mike Williams (biggest play of the game along with that last McDonald sack, IMO)

3 TD drives and a win. Take it and move on. Plenty to clean up/improve upon.

Jets were definitely not at their best. Injuries and bad plays in the first half. But, something happened at halftime. I think there had to be someone, like Rodgers, pushing for more aggressive plays. The Breece TD, GW reception, and Mike Williams throw were plays we haven’t seen in many years. Plus the Braelon Allen TD run was an Aaron Rodgers audible

In years past, we settle for FGs in the 4th quarter but we went for the TD and although our D gave a little, they didn’t let them score. That’s because of Aaron Rodgers getting them in the end zone and not settling for FGs.

It wasn’t a good first half. But Aaron Rodgers won that game for us. It’s the NFL. We are playing on the road in a conference game. We could be the Giants right now. Instead, we win a season changing game. Imagine being 0-2. We weren’t because of Aaron Rodgers, figuring out a way, and leading us in the 2nd half.

Brilliance? dude stop

Rodgers already knows the coverage before the snap and is calculating his best odds for a play. Multiple 1 on 1 balls to GW and MW that are technically supposed to be “50/50” balls but Rodgers puts the ball in the right spot and trusts his receivers. Those balls become more 80/20 in favor of us. He’s just warming up too, he’ll put up a huge season.

I'm honestly surprised how many people seem to think Rodgers was above-average or even great today.

There are definitely times I feel like I watched a whole different game than the rest of you.

But a win is a win, and going 0-2 is (statistically) near fatal, so that's what counts.

Short week, we'll see how we do against another team likely to compete for a top 10 draft pick in the Pats.

Well, I think its clear that he can make all the old throws, but his mobility is pretty shot now. Old Aaron would have taken advantage of the couple of running opportunities that arose. He also needs to work out some of the timing kinks he has with players he has only played, at best, 5 prior quarters with. I don't think we are getting 2020 AR8, but we can get something that might be good enough to take us to the big game.
