Mike Florio & the entire FNIA Team take aim at the Jets Organization on National TV.

Recommended Posts

Ok here is the link ..... the segment begins at 18:10. The discussion begins with the Football Night in America discussing the Vikings win over the 49ers and the brilliant job Sam Darnold has pulled off in the opening 2 Weeks of the season. Maria Taylor goes on to talk about what Geno Smith has done with the Seahawks. Then Devon McCordy chimes in "Zach Wilson should be excited somewhere" I hope the Youtube Crowd like Matt O'Leary, Kevin Sirkin, and Ryan from Jets Talk 24/7 are watching this stuff. It's the Youtube Crowd that keep harping on the line that the Jets Poor Quarterback Play was the cause of the team's poor record the last few years. Now these Analysts are throwing it back in their faces. When guys like Geno Smith are putting it all together with other teams maybe maybe its time to realize the problem is bigger than a handful of failed quarterback prospect. Even Mathew Berry and Jason Garrett have a few choice words.

IMO that's what happens when there is a complete doofus as the owner of the team, he continually makes bad GM and HC hires, adn when the rest of the NFL is focusing on 21st Century offenses, he is still hiring former DCs who want to win with defense and conservative play.  They haven't had a quality OC, much less a HC, in decades.  Parcells was the last quality HC we had.  Rex had success for a couple of seasons with the team that Tanny and Mangini assembled, but then he dismantled it and the rest of the NFL learned his 1-2 creative ideas, and he had nothing but bluster.

Maybe Woody will listen and take this to heart, and finally hire a bright, young offensive mind as HC.  I would say an established, quality offensive-minded HC, but don't think Andy Reid or someone of his pedigree will be available.

Leon Hess was the epitome of a Skin-Flint. When he was laying on his Death-Bed and the time was nearing to sell the Franchise THEN he decided to break the Rubber-Band and the Bankroll and spend on the team That's when the Jets got Bill Parcells. And when Hess kicked the bucket it was one more year for Parcells and then 23 Skidoo. Remember Al Groh ? He was the pits.

Woody may not know what he was doing but at least he will spend the money. Otherwise the team would not have Aaron Rodgers right now.

So, they half right. The Jets are a clown show for QB development.

Id also argue that most QB prospects need 3-5 years in the league just to be average. We often allow the special players to set our expectations for immediate excellence. Most of these guys take time. Even Brady was an entirely different QB by his 5th year or so. Early on, they hid him and minimized his role as much as possible.

agree.  it's not that they drafted bad prospects or even over drafted but that they just never put enough support behind the newbie qb.  but this is more of a symptom of the jets being too impatient and not developing a complete team before throwing the newbie in.  sanchez at least had a pretty complete team.  he was really only missing a really good receiver until they brought in edwards.  and the next season they got holmes.

Geno was drafted 11 years ago and is on his 4th team.

Darnold is also on his 4th team.

It’s not like these guys left the Jets and were immediately good

Geno was generally messed up by what happened in his time with the Jets. Darnold went to a franchise that was as screwed-up as the Jets.

No but you could make the argument the Jets screwed them up enough that he took a few years to reboot them.

Who watches Football Night in America?

It’s such a terrible production. Can’t believe we went from NFL Primetime with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson to these clowns.

It’s a bit early to be anointing purple Sammy after 2 games.

Even so, it made all the sense in the world to trade out of the #2 overall pick for a king’s ransom and give Sam one year with LaFleur to see what he could do.

He threw a pick took 3 sacks and fumbled twice

Can you qualify how Geno was “generally mess up by what happened in his time with the Jets”?

he seemed pretty immature when we drafted him and that played out (on multiple fronts) when he was our starting QB

This criticism is well deserved.

Every year they try tinkering with it and each change makes it even worse
