HighPitch
Of all the post-GD variants, Ive always said that the Phil Lesh side projects were BY FAR the best! I mean its not even close. The current Dead and Company with that guitar player is not even as accurate as a local GD band here in FL or Dark Star Orch
HighPitch
So how did I find out about Phils death? I was at Hulaween watching Dumpstafunk. I was hoping to see Daniels the bassist there with them because they played without him at Resonate back in April. Well, he wasnt with them again. OK. They still kicked ass. Near the end of the set, they started flashing pic of him on the screen. So I start thinking omg I guess he is really sick. Next thing you know the guitarist and singer are crying and weeping away on stage when the last song ended. So I couldnt believe it and I started crying like a little girlyman. I walked away and went to text my buddy that he is dead and that buddy had already texted me "Dude Phil Lesh died" I should have known when around song 4 they said" were gonna change the setlist up right now...." and they played shakedown street And sunday Bob Weir did a nice tribute with the string cheese incident

It was epic. Haynes and Herring were on fire. A young Derek Trucks finding his chops. One of my fondest concert going memories. And ofcourse Phil just had infectious stage presence that brought it all together so well

Allman bros were smoking at that time. I first saw them in hs.

And ofcourse Phil just had infectious stage presence that brought it all together so well Was at some of those great shows. Actually... witnessed a pretty fd up thing in the lot, around those fkn balloons... some granola hippie dude in sandals, totally harmless pacifist cleary, brushed up against a drunk bud light polo/golf type dude's handfull of balloons and one popped... and this dude beat the absolute shlt out of this hippie guy. It was fd up. I remember scrambling around looking for something to smash over the guy's head and knock him out... anyways after dude was beaten bloodied, polo guy's disturbed buddies pulled him off and dragged him away saying "dude you're gonna get arrested leave it" and the hippie guy was sitting on the ground dripping blood trying to catch his breath while ppl trying to help him out, and this polo fk comes running back and stomped dude's leg, snapping his leg right in half just like Leon Washington compound fracture that time. Obv put a bit of a damper on the otherwise epic show. Hopefully polo guy didn't make it as long as Phil.
