Popular Post extmenace
It’s why he was drafted. Too bad this team hasn’t been able to get out of its own way. It’s hard to get excited about a GM making the right pick when there has been so much wrong this season.
Popular Post mrcoops
He did an excellent job, for a guy who had literally never taken a single snap at the position. Even the holding call on him was very questionable - he kept his hands inside the entire play. 8
Bobby816
He had a holding call that seemed a bit BS. But otherwise was ok.

But even there the starting guards were out so they had Mitchell left and fashanu right. It worked out okay. We know why avt and Newman aren’t at right why wasn’t Simpson at left? You're right I forgot about that. It was kind of a ticky tack call. They don't usually call it if you're inside the shoulders but I get why they did

AVT has had an injured ankle, he's been out for like a week or two already I think. He didn't go on IR so I assume he will be back. Simpson left mid game with a groin injury. Not sure about Newman, but didn't he suffer that scary neck/head injury recently? Or was that another Jet?

I wasn't sure what happened with Simpson or if he even started. Thanks for clarifying. Hanson was in at G before Fashanu was put there. Not sure what happened to him. Newman was put on IR. Not sure if 4 week or season ending.
rangerous
29 minutes ago, HessStation said: The holding was a bad call to make up for the bad PI call on 4th down prior nfl refs blow just on the whole drama of the play the refs shouldn't have called it. imagine rodgers saving that drive with a ten yard scramble. you don't see that too often. and hold was more than a little iffy. if they were going to call close ones like that then the texans should've been called on just about every play. 2
Larz
It was kinda wild. A coach, not Carter, was going over his stance and hand placement on the sidelines and he goes in the game and pulled left and got a nice block on a run by Hall and anchored down on a bull rush. I was shouting “Olu!” When he came off the field and he was beaming, big smile ear to ear super impressed

Popular Post Jetpain
Maybe the lack of coaching at guard from Coach Carter is the reason for his success last night. 3
THE BARON
He had a nice stance and anchor as a guard considering he's been a LT. Along with GW's wild catches and Breece being Breece, Fashanu's performance at guard was really neat. Have to say, I'm surprised they won that game considering how many bush league errors they made in the first half.

It wasn’t a bad call, but it was a little ticky tacky Offensive Linemen grab the defender’s jersey on literally every single play. Even the “immortal” Tom Brady has admitted this. The difference is when the defender is within your frame it’s almost never called — remember Jermaine Johnson vs Chiefs last season? It’s typically only when you’ve “lost” — the defender is outside your frame and your arms are extended — that’s it’s called. When I saw the replay I couldn’t freaking believe it. That was a huge play in the game and I’m sure the refs loved being at the center of it all. Went from 1st and goal at the 1 to 3rd and 20. It took the greatest catch in NFL history by G5 to overcome the refs disgusting bias or incompetence or whatever that was. 2

There is holding on literally 100% of running plays in NFL and college it’s just a matter of when refs want to call it. Holding occurs conservatively on 50% of passing plays
Greenseed4
With today’s cameras, wearable tech, and advanced data processing, we should be able to challenge ALL calls. But, especially those that ‘do not affect the outcome of the play.’ Like we should be able to simulate if a held player could actually have made a tackle if he wasn’t held. Or for PI, determine if the ball is catchable or not based on ball trajectory and a player’s Madden rating.

Especially playing Guard and going up against interior D-linemen he had trouble at times with their power. However, he's got really quick feet for a Guard. On plays with movement, stretch run plays, he is always getting to his spot ahead of the defender, putting himself in good position. Not a lot of 'Guards' can do that. Looks like he gave up one pressure where he completely whiffed on a block. And that penalty looked like b.s. to me.
Greenseed4
There are times when he isn’t playing up to his size, like he doesn’t know how big he is. That should change with more reps.
