Biggest concern for Jets in upcoming game vs Cardinals

Recommended Posts

This has been a long standing issue for this defense, really since Saleh was hired. The D line aggression and wide-9 positioning just lend themselves to QBs escaping and making unscripted plays, if they can. I don't think they're suddenly about to start playing it safe with contain on the DL, and extremely few NFL LBs actually have the athleticism to spy Kyler.

The Jets will need to hope the D line and secondary can make enough plays on the ball (i.e. Turnovers and sacks) to make the risk worth it. Works 60% of the time, every time!

We saw Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye run all over this defense as they failed to contain and/or spy.

Last night vs the Texans, CJ Stroud had a couple of big runs and he had plenty of chances for several more but he didn't take off and run.

If they don't fix this issue before the Cards game, Kyler Murray will exploit it and have an easy time keeping drives alive with his legs.

Could be a 100+ yard day for him if the Jets don't fix it.

Hopefully they know that too. You would think they would  but I’m totally uncomfortable assuming they know anything,

I think this is a game we will have to win on offense

I expect the cardinals to light us up. Kyler will eat the edges of this defense

Those long drives in the 2nd half changed the game finally.  And they need to use both rbs, do the short stuff and keep the d fresher.  Rodgers is still accurate but they need to have plans when they get blitzed b/c rodgers can’t move much.

Yep - they got gashed on the run and let Stroud run wild, and yet they only gave up 13 points. The thing that is killing the Jets are the ridiculously stupid mistakes.

Early spike not only cost us 7, but also the lead; ST killed us - D would make a stop and ST or a stupid penalty gave the ball back. Yeah, teams run on the Jets, but as long as the D only gives up 13 points, I am okay with it. Hopefully the O will be running better now - if they put up 25+ points, teams will have to abandon the run anyway.

IMO the real concern for the Jets next week and the rest of the year are the ST, and maybe a lack of healthy OL.

Like everything on this team, it relates to "hero ball" and non-discipline and remaining in your lane.

Unsure if they are coached this way, or if the players are just freelancing. But, at the end of the day, it is the coaches responsibility to fix it.

Easiest bet of the night last night was Stroud over 8.5 Rush yards.

Instead of waiting until the worst possible time for his regular personal foul or late hit, Dr. Michael Clemons should just commit his penalty early in the game and slow Murray down.    Reminder...no one is tougher after the whistle than Clemons.  He did have a sack last night which was nice.

Cut back the mind numbing inexcusable outrageous blunders to one a game and they can beat anyone.

If we limit it to <= 2 per game with this cast of characters, Ulbrich might be in the COTY discussion.

Nothing like reading post after post about how the Cardinals will do this and that to us. Bunch of Nostradoofonces here.
Here's my prediction. With 10 days of Jets rest the Cardinals won't know what hit them. Someone on the D will Bledsoe Murray.

Reddick comparatively isn't that much bigger. Listed at 6'1" 240;may not be even that big.  Against most NFL tackles, looks like a child. And last 2 weeks, opposing QBs have looked to where he is on the field when the play breaks down and look for some space to roam. There's a total lack of containment that has to be addressed or Murray is gonna run wild.

The Jets actually have a LB core that has the athleticism to try and shadow Murray.

The  injuries to guys like Chuck Clark really hurt.

I hate to say it, but Jamal Adams could really help this team.

But contrary to my other post in another thread, JD is supposedly the guy playing chess with the players.

But also consistent with one of my other threads, there is no real Head Football Guy in Charge on this team, other than Woody.  I do think that Saleh was the one who pushed for Reddick.

But trading away JFM who would have started game 1 for Reddick who just arrived was not a good strategic/roster building move for this team, even though we were frustrated at times with stupid penalties.

The Jets are a 3-6 team that could easily be 5-4 or 6-3.

Are they practicing at all this weekend?   They should.

Giving this team 3 days off is a bad idea…

That’s universal. Nobody practices the weekend after a Thursday night game

All they have to do is put DJ Reed in the Cards best receiver

My concern as well. However, I’m sensing (hoping) that the Jets have started to turn the corner with the great win last night..and will finish the season strong.
Injuries are a concern.  Have no idea if the Cardinals are banged up also.

Have you read the title of the thread as in "biggest concern"? Also, the Jets have been trash after a long week or bye week for years.
