Run Defense: Trade Possibilties?

Recommended Posts

Run D and penalties are still #1 problem

Just killing this team

Rodgers and offense finally showing signs of life

Now we know Olu can play G or T

Mitchell held up ok at LG too

K problem hopefully solved with Patterson

If they really want to go all in, go get a big time player to plug up the middle?

Take a look at Al Woods again.  Fotu has been a disaster.  Just need a giant body in next to Quinnen, Kinlaw isn't good enough against the run.  The DL hasn't been able to plug anything all year - they either get penetration and a TFL or miss and open holes for the RB.

They won't do it though.

Second this.
His Achilles injury was exactly 1 year ago and all he really has to do is stand there.

As I said a few weeks ago, I'd offer the Browns a day 3 pick for Quinton Jefferson.  Maybe even a 2026 day 3 pick. Has been inactive for Cleveland for a few weeks now.

Listen, I’m all for hoping we make a run - but at 3 wins you simply cannot throw more draft capital at short-term fixes when we have such long odds.

Meh. I get what you're saying I just disagree. I say that knowing full well the most likely scenario at this point is no playoffs this year.

It's an all-in year, which is a rare occasion and opportunity for this franchise. They already made that decision and it's a sunk cost. Bailing on it early would be weak sauce. Stay the course and pray for the best. It's all we've got. If they pull off the miracle and make the playoffs they'll be riding a hot streak and we want them to have the best possible chance. Teams ride hot streaks to championships.

Some mid to late round pick(s) isn't going to make or break whatever it is we end up doing next year.

As you know, I don’t post here to change people’s minds. You’re entitled to disagree. I’ll simply say that I stopped believing the organization had an all-in strategy this season as soon as they signed 2 veteran OTs and drafted Fashanu.

It’s also not “too early” to bail on it, given they just got their 3rd win vs. and injury decimated team - meaning they’ve not beaten cupcakes.

md-range picks are essentially to trading up for a QB, which is the situation we’re likely to find ourselves in.

Having to fix tons of issues with this team mid season and paying a premium to do so becasue Joe Dogass utterly failed this off season.

Go Joe

In this case, I don't think it's a fair criticism.  He signed Fotu to replace Woods. He hasn't done anything because he's been hurt.

I think our direction will hinge on the outcome of next week’s game

If we beat the Cardinals, putz Woody might be tempted to push all his chips into the middle of the table

Which I’m actually ok with because at least you hope for 1 more week 😂

If we lose, I think we’re looking at a fire sale

BTW, where the eff is Joe Douglas

I think the trade deadline is this Tuesday.

You don’t think Woody is all in already?

I mentioned Al Woods pretty early on during the off-season, he'd at least be worth an exploratory phone call.

They need to start giving Phil Taylor more playing time over dudes like Thomas.

Thomas is solid as an obvious, 3rd down interior rusher, but the dude is like 270. There’s no reason he should be on the field unless it’s 3rd and 6 or longer.

You mean Leonard Taylor III, right?  I've liked what he's offered since the preseason and agree he needs more snaps. A lot more.
