Super Fond Memory - Jets win division

Recommended Posts

We were at a tailgate watching the Mia/NE game and it was looking hopeless. We discussed not bothering staying for the game we were so bummed.

Then MIA started to fall apart. We stayed in the parking lot through OT. We were literally rolling around on the ground when NE won.

We charged into the stadium and got to our seats just in time to see the Jets scoring barrage begin.

It was the most fun I ever had at a Jets game. The whole game thereafter was a party.

And the Indy playoff game right after this game everybody was standing the whole game. We never sat down.

All of the above. Playoff berth appeared to be such a pipe dream we hadn't paid for playoff tickets, so had to scramble to the ticket office day of the game to pick them  up. We weren't alone. And one of our usual party had booked a trip to Florida so I got to take my son instead.

Perspective as to how long it's been; older son was like 13, now he's married with 2 kids. Younger son was baby and he's working and out of college. He went to school in Massholia, where his friends thought until now seeing the Pats have home playoff games(usually 2) every season was a given.

Thanks for this. Just read now. That's awesome. I remember an unreal amount of joy.

Was that 41-0? I was there! It was so damn cold I bought a pair of Solomon hiking boots that kept my feet toasty all game. They lasted until a few years ago. Granted, I live in sunny CA.

I was there. I remember all of the teams we needed to lose in the 1 pm games, were winning or already won. That was for a wildcard. No one thought we had a shot at the division. The game started, the stadium was very subdued. I was listening to the Fins vs Pats on my radio. The Pats came back and brought it to overtime. When the Pats lined up for the field goal, and won the game, I remember a small rumble in the crowd as people realized the Packer game was now for the division. Then during a timeout on the field(Jets on offense) they showed the kick and final score of the Pats game on the screen. There was a huge roar! Then, I'll never forget this. Herm Edward's goes running up and down the sideline smacking helmets. Pennington breaks the huddle, and you can see the entire offense line up with Mawae at center, and they gave that Packer's defense a look like, we are about to pummel you! And they did! The Packers were 12-3. What a memory. Went from a morgue at the beginning of the game, to an absolute party. I, like everyone else didn't opt in for the playoff tickets and spent that Monday standing in line to buy them.

Yes, that was the game. Coldest games I was ever at were two win and you’re in games. the Jets vs packers 1981 and Jets Bengals Sunday night game 2010 (last game at giants stadium)

was sitting in lower level endzone and Giants stadium used to have 19inch tv's hanging from the ceilings in certain sections. About 3 or 4 sections over from us they had the game on one of those tv's and we were watching the reaction of the fans in that section and knew the pats made the fg when the crowd went nuts. Then they showed it on the larger screen.

did not have season tickets at the time so went to a local ticket master on monday and was able to get two tickets for the indy playoff game.
