Jets say DJ Reed not available

I would extend DJR now.  He's only 27.

If the Jets care about "culture" as much as they say they do, this is the kind of player you want to build around.

Sauce looks mentally checked out.  Might be dealing with something in his personal life.  Who knows.

But there has to be something going on with him.

The lack of confidence he's playing with is palpable.

Sauce is getting cooked this year. He’s changing his name to PI Sauce now.

Why would Joe Douglas make a move for the future when he know he is a dead man walking if they don’t make playoffs. The only way JD can stay is if we pull off this miracle playoff run. Eliminating DJ Reed makes his slim possibility of a return less likely

I could understand DBs who are slow and unathletic grabbing and holding.

But Sauce has 4.33 speed and is a great athlete.

There's no reason for him to be doing this all the time.  He's either lazy or not trusting his own ability.

He has the recovery speed to make up for things even if WRs gain a little separation.

He also needs to work hard on tracking the ball better and get in front of a Juggs machine so easy INT chances aren't squandered.

Instead of playing the man all the time, he should be trying to make plays on the ball more.

Should’ve re-signed him rather than MCII, especially with Sauce’s rookie contract expiring after 2025. That being said, we should trade Sauce if we can get something like a 1st and 3rd, then re-sign Reed. Can’t give all three of them extensions.

Love to know what a new contract looks like for Reed...3 or 4 years and how much per year?

This is the exact kind of move the Jets should be looking to make today at 3-6. I wonder what Washington offered for him?
Seeing Reed’s tweet just now tells you what Jet players think their chances are of making the playoffs. He wanted out and you can’t blame him.

Redskins traded for Lattimore.

The Saints shipped cornerback Marshon Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick to Washington ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline in exchange for third-, fourth- and sixth-round picks in next year's draft, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, per sources informed of the situation.

I don’t think it had much to do about their chances. More so if - why are you guys keeping me here, if I’m not part of your long term plans. Plus would probably have gotten a nice extension with WAS.

He'll get his money.

Either from the Jets via extension or an offseason bidding war.

In Reed’s case that’s probably all true, but I still believe most of the locker room feels the season is over, and a lot of them would love to be sent off to good team like Washington rather than be here.

Not smart.  Not good for the locker room.

You’re assuming this locker room isn’t fractured already. I think it’s very plausible that it is, and I think the QB is the reason why.

Dudes pissed he didn’t get traded.

I'd bet that has nothing to do with him not being traded.  Someone in the comments nailed it as it's probably a reaction to Williams being traded.

There's the guy we should have drafted instead of Jamal Adams. 🤬

Cool. Cant wait for him to walk in free agency for nothing!

Every single one of our guys on their last year of their contract should've been traded.  While I haven't given up hope to make the playoffs, we're a 3-6 team.  We should be trying to load up on assets.  Obviously it's not in JD's self-nterest to think beyond this year though.

Why are you in a locker room, and exactly how is it fractured??

This is on Woody Johnson! Period. He is now responsible for the Jets literally imploding!

What a joke!

Joe Douglas isn’t allowed to make moves because he doesn’t run the team

What? looking at the players drafted in 2017 and seeing who was still available at 6, there isn't a GM in the league who would be saying "I'm taking Lattimore"
