Popular Post kmnj
I pretty much watch most games every weekend. I have seen lots of the bucs games and one thing is so clear after watching the bucs play-Baker is a warrior with heart miles and miles of heart. Baker fights for every yard on every play like his life depends on it no matter how bleak the outcome looks and his players love him for it. They have been extremely competitive while running out the ultimate scrubs at WR with Godwin and Evans hurt-I mean sterling shepard really ? I watch Arod out there and he is the exact opposite of Baker. He does not fight but folds under pressure. He is not elevating the play of those around him but hurting their play. Baker plays hungry like every play could be his last. I am guessing after living in hell aka Cleveland and having one foot out of the league he knows how critical it is to make the most out of your opportunities. Arod has a sense of entitlement and arrogance about him that is not a good look especially at this stage of his career when his skills have faded. I knew when fat Joe brought in Arod it would end very very badly. He was the worst option out there for the Jets. I cant wait until he is gone. 3 1
Popular Post TuscanyTile2
I don't blame AR8 for this team's failures but the Baker story is amazing. He was probably really close to being out of the league but now he's completely turned his career around. 4
Saul Goodman
Good point about Rodgers not raising up the level of his teammates play. Which players have performed better this year with Rodgers at QB?
TuscanyTile2
Some QBs in recent years who were FAs or would've cost very little to acquire: Baker Mayfield Jared Goff Sam Darnold (I know. I know) Detroit drafted Hendon Hooker 2 years ago. I assume he could be acquired. If Minny somehow won a SB this year, is there any chance they'd possibly be willing to turn their franchise over to Sam, freeing up JJ McCarthy? Highly doubtful but who knows. JoeNamathsFurCoat
Baker was like an 8M free flier 😂 But the Jets never had a realistic shot at him even if they tried He looked at Tampa and saw that weather, no income tax, and Evans and Godwin No brainer Beaides Woody has always been obsessed with star power at QB He wanted Rodgers at all costs
Biggs
I was never a Baker fan but he's really grown on my. He's tough as nails and a lot of fun to watch. You can tell how much he's into it.

Hooker is a nice thought...I think you are looking at a Justin Fields or maybe even a shot at Trevor Lawrence..

Hall has been unimpressive and Tyron Smith has been a downgrade from Becton who is blocking Saquon to 1,700 rushing yards
Jetsfan80
Baker is a lot like Geno. The ability was there. The maturity was not. 1 2

The browns kicked that dude to the curb like he was nothing, and the panthers are the panthers. Baker got to work with mcvay and instantly showed that he could play in this league. The sample size was small, but when he was put into a stable situation, he looked like a starting caliber qb. The Bucs saw enough to make the gamble and it’s paying off nicely. With guys like baker and Darnold, they likely had the goods from the get go but the teams they were drafted to never gave them a real chance to succeed. You look around the league and there are a handful of teams that never get anything more than a year or two of success before falling off a cliff. Jets, browns, bears, panthers, jags, Snyder’s redskins (we’ll see how the new ownership functions moving forward) are among the teams that have proven time and time again that they don’t function at a high level like other franchises in the league. In this day and age, I won’t be surprised if we start seeing more and more qbs take the Eli / elway route. Where you get drafted is more important than a QBs own skill set.

He was there for the taking for a base contract and case of beer before the Bucs signed him but Joe D. was busy working his magic to take a look!

ChewyandtheJets
Not only does he not lift up he brings down. He is totally immobile which makes his O line look worse then they are. He insists on getting the ball off within 1.5 seconds for fear of getting hit meaning his receivers have to run a maximum of 10 yard routes which I am sure they hate. When he does throw downfield he is either inaccurate when making the right read or not even within the vicinity when the receiver doesn't do as expected. He then makes sure with his body language if not outright finger pointing so that everyone knows who was at fault. I am sure they all are sick of this nonsense at this point - the only reason we won't insert Taylor is because it would become immediately evident how poorly he is performing statistics be damned - the only big plays he makes are screen passes that break free or during mop up duty. He cannot come back next season I don't care what the salary implications are.

His body can’t take hits like a QB still in his late 20s. It’s not his fault he stinks. He’s just beyond his shelf life, that’s all.

Hael
I have always liked Baker, but do you think you can win a superbowl with him? Maybe, but you would probably need a HOF level defensive unit that doesn't rely on him. Ability wise, he's just not quite up to beating the Mahomes/Burrows/Brady's of the world in the playoffs without a lot of help.. He's kinda rounding out to the Alex Smith level of qbing as he gets older.
