What's Better Plasma or DLP?

GOB...you aren't too far off man. You speak the truth. I barely have indoor plumbing but the TV rocks, LOL.

I guess I will stand up for the DLP crowd. I bought a sweet DLP set from Samsung and let me tell you. The HDTV channels are beautiful. Its a sweet set and i will never ever have to worry about burn in. Plus if the bulb burns out, I just buy a new one...never need to recharge gases or any of that stuff. Its a sweet alternative to plasma or lcd.

BURN IN IS MY BIGGEST FEAR IN LIFE.

I build a home for you LL. I ask for you by name. And you come back to me with BURN IN.

Damn You!

max,

I shopped for a Tv where I has the least worries. Burn in was a factor in me getting DLP. Its cheaper than plasma or LCD, true the tv housing is bigger and i can't hang it on a wall but I wont have to recharge gases or worry about burn in. I had a friend who bought a plasma like two years ago and has burn in from watching Bloomberg tv..he has the scroll bar burned in...ugh!

Anyway, it has great resolution.

I just found a Samsung 46" DLP for $1999, with 12 mos interest free. I won't mention burn in, just looking for honest opinions on whether this thing is worth two grand..? any help would be appreciated.

Bro I will look at this tonight and will let you know what I think. Not familiar with that model off the top of my head.

Bro the price looks pretty good. You can beat it if you bought online and had it shipped. But not everyone is comfortable with that. Also the savings might be offset by the interest free thing if you are paying it off over the year.

You should check out this article as well before buying:

Reading all the reviews can get tiring. The best bet is to make sure you go to the store and check the TV out yourself. Just watch it. Trust your eyes...they will have the contrast set to 100 on everything most likely so pick the picture that you think is better.

Oh and the Giants suck.

I have this TV and its AWESOME! The HDTV feature is amazing...I can't wait till more channels broadcast in HDTV. I saw the Jets/SD playoff game in HDTV and the Jets/Pitt playoff game in HDTV.

BigBlue:

LL knows his stuff. If he says it is a good TV then go get it. Immediately.

I am being serious.

I am as big a technophile as maxman...I would not have bought this TV if it wasn't a quality set...

oh..another tidbit about this TV...it comes with a HDMI port, this is an advanced port that provides almost flawless HD reception between a tv and a box. The newer boxes (sat or cable) will have this connection...

Thanks to all - I got the Samsung and an HDMI cable, although I got fff'd at Best Buy on the cable cost - $150... I found out I can get one on line for half that price. Taking it back for sure. As soon as I hook this tv up, I am never leaving my basement.
