Varitek possibly headed to the DL

Recommended Posts

I'm not even trying to hear Red Sox fans whine about injures .... whatta joke

Lose Papi and Manny for the rest of the season and then it evens out

Other than that, consider yourselves fortunate and keep walkin

Oh the injuries keep on mounting. I mean, this is not the team we were expected to play with. 3/5ths of the rotation out. Manny with a bum knee. Coco has not been right since fracturing his hand. Now, Trot is on the DL also.

The Red Sox are the inspirational story of the year. They have managed to overcome more injuries then any two teams combined and are still in first place. all the while holding off the 200 million dollar beast.

Back to the topic on hand. Losing Varitek is a Major loss, as in spite of his average, he still has power potential every time he steps up at the plate. He also is the leader of the team. Losing him for a length of time will hurt at least somewhat.

All good points and how he handles the pitching staff needs to be brought up also. Of all the injuries, this is the one that is hardest to overcome, Doug Mirabelli and his porn look notwithstanding.

Theo said before the season the Sox were not going to be big spenders this year. He wanted to see where all the new and/or young players fit in before doing and major renovations. This was to be a rebuilding year. Given the contributions given by Papelborn and to a lesser extent Lester, DeClareman, Hanson and WIly MO, I am glad he did not do what the old Sox FO would have done. Traded one or more of them for a player that while an immediate impact might be nice, long range would be negative.

There's more to baseball than hitting. And 'roid allegations from a Yankee fan? Pot, kettle, black.

JonE is the Mitch WIlliams of the baseball forum. He has one pitch. It is a roid take. A Sox player is having a great season. The answer is roids. He is having a bd year. It is the lack of roids.

That makes sense actually. HGH-Rod is having a down year, for him.

BTW how the hell did you get a picture with Nugent?

He played down here in Clearwater a couple of weeks ago, and a friend of mine knows him. Went backstage and got to chat with him for a bit. Nice guy.

That is cool.

So Thor, let me ask you this. Do you think Bonds has ever taken anything or do you need proof? I mean, they never proved OJ decided that his wife looked better looking without a head, but everyone with any brains knows he did it.

JFF look at it from the Sox fan point of view.

Yankee fans love to throw out baseless accusations regarding Sox players.

All we heard from Skank fans are Big Papi is on roids because he went from nothing to perenial contender for MVP. Why?

Yankee fan: Roids.

Boston Fan: His numbers gradually improved during his last few season in Minnesota through his few in Boston. The Sox signed a 27yo player that is entering his prime. Going from a pitcher's park to a hitter's park. The talent level surrounding him is alot better. He should get better.

Sox fan can make a valid argument. Yankee fan can not. Short of a 160lb picture of a 22yo Big Papi in the Twin farm system appearing on Smoking Gun, Skank fans sound like idiots making baseless acusations. Is Big Papi roid free? I do not know. Can his rise be attributed to things I said above and not seem too far fetched? Yes.

Yea I'm sure Ortiz is taking all the right eating habits, the fat a##.

I honestly dont really care anymore, but a sudden spike from a cut player to league MVP candidate during the steroid era? Yea its alittle fishy.

Did you look at the picture you posted? Cut? PPPPuuuhhhlllleeeeeeaaassseee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has the same thick neck, big head and arms and I could be wrong, but me thinks that uniform is hiding his Big Papi gut.

I will guess he is easily pushing 210-220 in that picture. Again, where is the pic that shows the clear differences between a young player (i.e. Bonds, Shef and Gimabi) and a plyer that has gained good 60-80 lbs?

Sharrow

Retracted due to my own stupidity. Thanks #27. The English thing is new.
