The Fat Man
Curtis Martin career may be over, Chad Pennington is fighting for his professional life and who's to blame...you guessed it...Herman Edwards! I do not burden this with the player because having played the sport myself, playing hurt is a part of the game and seeing your fellow players everyday applies peer pressure to return and in some cases too soon. (unless of course your John Abraham). This coach knowingly put his players at risk by allowing them to comeback too soon especially when it was visuallly obvious they could not compete. It was clear to everyone in the stadium that Chad Pennington was not even close to ready last year, embarrassingly enough, and Curtis was allowed to play additional games on that same bad knee. (that's the past!) I do have a couple of concerns about this new staff. Why are they not making a decision about Curtis Martin? It seems like they have allowed this issue to fester like a big juicy boil. Reports are out stating Martin told Mangini to draft a RB in February and the new regime obviously did not listen. Is this true? Maybe it is all just a bunch of crap.

I may be the worlds worst head coach, but don't ever accuse me of overcooking ribs or anything. Look how fat and out of shape the Jets were last year. You think they got that way eating overcooked garbage!!!! Hell, Ty Law lost 11 pounds this offseason simply because he didn't get my BBQ.

If someone is cleared to play, you can't blame the coach for playing them.

Preston Howley III
Wow. some great one-liners. Practices usually end in 90 minutes or less. Veteran players get some time off.
Preston Howley III
Herm, meanwhile, digs into the defense. He spends a few happy minutes Tuesday playing quarterback and teaching his beloved Cover 2 — “my baby,” he calls it.

Boozer76
Here's the problem with Herm's theory: His defenses have NEVER been good enough to make the stop. So with 3 minutes left up by 4, They run the ball, D calls TO, Offense now has 2:30 seconds after the punt to move down the field to score. That's alot of time in the NFL, even without time outs. Furthermore, when you see Herms D turnstyle their way backwards down the field, it is 90% inevitable that the offense is going to have at least 1-3 chances to score in the red zone. Furthermore, Herm doesn't only use this strategy when he's up by 4, he uses it when he's up by 1, 2, and 3. Hell, he even uses this strategy when he's down a score. He always seems to think his D is gonna make the stop, and they rarely do.

Sperm Edwards
“You just gotta play smart,” he says. “Throwing the ball on third and 8 with that little time left, with this team? That’s just not smart. Incomplete pass, and you give the other guys a free timeout. Did he just suggest that this low-percentage play is in the interest of clock management? If this doesn't just sum it up, I don't know what does. THIS is the play. No matter who you're playing. No matter how many timeouts they have left. No matter how your defense has played against them. No matter if this is the first set of downs in the series & your defense just got off the field 90 seconds ago. This is it. Always. Hey if you're up by 4 and time is winding down and your defense has been an immovable force, and you can pin the '05 Kyle Orton-led Bears at their own five, then duh you run it. But he's so proud of himself that he "figured out" the answer to winning this game every time; as though anyone else who hasn't figured this out or disagrees must not know what they're doing. Why not just call out your team's next play on a megaphone?
