Mawae, Olson Head Wednesday Injured

By Jonathan Hutton August 9, 2006

Veteran offensive guard Benji Olson and center Kevin Mawae both suffered from severe back spasms over the course of Tuesday night.

Titans Head Coach Fisher said trainers will keep close watch on them throughout the next few days.

“At this point they’re not at any jeopardy of missing any playing time on Saturday, but they were still a little tight so we treated them aggressively this morning,” Fisher said.

Tight ends Bo Scaife and Greg Guenther practiced during individual drills Wednesday morning and still have a chance to get in the ballgame on Saturday. Both players are suffering from quad injuries.

“We haven’t ruled them out,” Fisher said. “We’re being smart. When you’re talking about soft muscle, you want to be smart. It’s at that point where they [want to practice], so when you get to that point we’ll give them at least another day or two.”

Other injury news included rookie running back LenDale White, who missed morning practice with a wrap around his right knee. White said he would participate during the 7:30p session.

Defensive end Travis LaBoy was wearing a protective boot on Tuesday after suffering an injury during the team's surprise visit to Fort Campbell on Monday.

Veteran wide outs Drew Bennett and David Givens both rested during the morning practice. Fisher expects Bennett back by Wednesday night but said Givens may rest the entire day. Running back Travis Henry returned to practice and looked to be ready to participate against the Saints
