SoFlaJets
ESPN Radio - Not sure if posted They are saying that Greg Buttle and John Clayton are both reporting that they have information saying that Chad did re-injure that shoulder. also being confirmed by Chan that HE heard it too.. SoFlaJets
it really (if true) is the best worst case scenario for the team.Get some continuity in WHOEVER is going to be the starter-Ramsey or Clemens(sorry Fred) with Brooksy 3rd stringing it. I feel bad for Chad Pennington today if this is true-I don't know why.I posted a thread yesterday asking about when we started posting on a Jets site and for a lot of us is was that 2000 draft-maybe that's it I don't know
Sperm Edwards
If that's true I'm not even sure we can cut him until after the season's over. There's something in the CBA about you can't cut a player while he's hurt. But that may not count here since the season hasn't started yet. If it was going to happen, better it should happen now than in week 14 after Chad's reached all these incentives that would eat up another $6M+ of 2007 cap space. That's just f'ing great. Every rational fan knew he should've been cut before the season. No matter whether he came back or not, he simply can't take the punishment requisite of an NFL QB. He had a lot of talent in terms of accuracy, had a good head on his shoulders, is a good guy by all accounts. But this is ridiculous. One sack in the first preseason game & he's injured again? The CBA does not allow teams to cut players because of injuries. What the Jets can do however, is place him on the IR for the entire season and then cut his sorry @ss before he is due his March 2007 roster bonus. The Jets really need to move away from this loser and look to the future.
SoFlaJets
another thing thanks to Spermy for pointing out another (in the long line of) things I didn't know-in regards to the salary cap hit if he would have met the incentives. thinking about this (possibly) new development you can't even blame Mangini for not doing what say, Nick Saban did with HIS question mark just coming off an injury QB did-which was play him one series. We had to know if we can or can't depend on Chjad and I'm starting to believe the answer is a solid no-not anymore. We the fans deserve better. on note to mod maybe we should combine these threads into one (mine and Warfishs'-I think they will be long discussed
Sperm Edwards
and SE...it's not fair to the team and the fans to keep us walking on these eggshells after every hit No doubt brother. He can't throw for distance other than to "keep the defense honest" as we were spoon-fed. Know what keeps the safeties honest? COMPLETING passes deep, not chucking punt-like airballs out of bounds. It's sad b/c he seems like a good guy. It's also sad b/c the Jets gave him all that money (I couldn't care less about Woody's wallet - it was a cap-killer) Distasteful and (given the anonymity) cowardly as it was, the player who said Chad was like an egg back there was dead-on-balls correct. And we knew it at the time. The lesson is even more painful now.
SoFlaJets
The lesson is even more painful now. but less so happening with a whole month until opening day-this could ultimately end up being a blessing in disguise ala Mo Lewis hurting Drew Bledsoe-ya never know-worked out pretty good up there didn't it? It is a blessing so we don't have to endure the "Chad potential" circus anymore. I take back what I said. I don't feel bad for the guy at all. He's been paid over $25M. I feel sorry for all of us to have to have endured his tease for years. I never saw a more fragile QB in my life. Didn't he first screw up his shoulder with some throwing-for-distance friendly competition with Vinny as a rookie in TC? Then the wrist. Then shoulder injury #1. Then shoulder injury #2. Now shoulder injury #3. Get this LOSER off our beloved Jets ASAP.

NJ
It's time. It's soup. It's past due - Chad Pennington is a great guy with a ton of courage - but I don't him quarterbacking the Jets. Enough was enough last year. Do whatever makes fiscal sense with him and bring him back to coach. Upward and onward. Any additional foot dragging by anyone for any reason will warrant Chad the tag of loadstone and he's a classier guy than that.

NJ
Upward and onward-to Patrick Ramsey? Yeah - if Clemens isn't ready. And it's just my opinion, but injured or not I dont think he can make the throws and don't think he made them in 04 and 05.
JetsMan57
The thing is the Pennington era ended already before this possibly injury. Unless he had a stellar performance this year (highly doubtful) the Jets were just looking for one of the 3 vets on the team to give them the best chacne to win this year while they groom Clemens. Anything other than a stellar year from Chad and Clemens was most likely teh starter next year anyway.

It would've added another $6M to next year's Pennington cap #. It was stupid to keep him around this year from the start.

RSJ
You have no judgement call to make when the guy needed an MRI becaue he was on the receiving end of a routine sack? Could be a precaution. He did just have surgery in consecutive years on the same shoulder. Again, I think it is premature to have any comment at this point.

I also don't think Clemens is ready. Patrick Ramsey has not exactly gotten a firm grasp on the O so far. I think with our running game Ramsey would be a VERY ugly situation. What I am saying is he under/overed a lot of passes in the flat, but more importanly he didn't even see a bunch of open opportunities downfield. It was Hacketball at the time so who knows - but that's my take in making the statement he didn't make the throws. Patrick Ramsey has not much to give any warm feelings yet. I think he needs to be given the rope to lasso the horse or hang himself. I hope he gets more rope this weekend.

I consider not picking the right receiver, making the wrong read, not "getting" the offense. I didn't just mean the Mangini/Shotty offense, I meant any O.
