Alk
Well, I was looking into buying a labtop this week. So now I guess, Dells are pretty much out of the question. Probably will get an HP now. Careful there. From what I heard tonight, the cause of the fire was the Sony batteries that were in the laptop. Those same batteries are used in alot of the big companies including HP. Blackout
Mavrik, any Dell computer made now won't have those same battery issues with that said, coming from someone who works for Dell's phone customer service, the only way I recommend buying a Dell is if you purchase software support WITH the computer (saves ALOT of money) I have a Dell myself and I haven't had any problems with it, but I'll admit our software support department is a bitch to deal with. If you don't have a "dell on call" contract, it doesnt matter how recent/old the computer is, we can't give you support with software issues. Sometimes I feel bad, but then I remember about making comission I'm going to have to answer so many battery phone calls today, these sons of bitches are going to kill my close rate

Don't be surprised if any other computer companies have the same issues in the near/far future.

BwanaZulia
Time for a new logic board, again, GG? I have two Macs right now, a 1 year old Dual G5 (2 x 2.3 Ghz, 3.5 GB of Ram, 2 x 250 Gb drives, 23" Apple Cinema LCD.....) and an 5 year old Powerbook G4 (500Mhz, 1GB Ram, 100GB drive). That Powerbook has been to Africa and back, Europe and back. Jamaica and back and most importantly been in the care of my wife's hands for the last 4 years. It runs the latest OS (10.4) and the latest software (iLife 06) and is just a little work horse. BZ

The machine itself is quite handsome. The file structure and the way all the utilities work are different, but very easy to get used to and far more intuitive than with Windows. Another happy customer. BZ
