New Server

Recommended Posts

I had started a thread on this about two weeks ago. We have decided to switch web hosting companies. Weren't thrilled with the service that we are getting from our current host.

At the same time we decided to upgrade capacity. For those of you that care we are moving to a new server. The specs for that server are:

2.6 ghz

1 Gigabyte of RAS

O\S = Linux

We are really happy with the new hosting company and the new server.

The purpose for this thread is because the move will be taking place soon. (Few days). We are currently testing on the new server. Once we have certified a few things, we will make the switch. Shouldn't be any problems but there is a small chance that we may lose a few posts along the way.

Hopefully the posts are from Patsfantx because we know they won't be missed!

Thanks.

You beat me to it, Tom. So, Max, Artsy, wanna 'fess up?

No you guys have this all wrong. Tom did overhear me moaning a name in the break room. But it was ART. He was my college roommate and a good friend. Nothing more, I swear.

What the hell is "RAS"? Is that Random Access SUPER-Memory? :)

AMD or Pentium?

What version of Linux? Redhat? FreeBSD?

Drives? RAID?

What type of backup? How often? On-site or off site?

How much bandwidth a month?

Enquiring geeks want to know.

Sorry for the RAM typo.

BZ...you want the keys to the server room as well?

It is a XEON Box. RAID Drives but we are doing an offsite backup.

The monthly bandwidth is FAR more than we will ever need, that much I will say. It is a LOT.
