Sharrow
Thor, are you trying out for Last Comic Standing? You know what would be really funny? If the yankees choked again like they did in 2004 and let them come back and win the division. That would be funny.

That would be funny. How many times in history have the Red Sux choked ?? I mean, a Boston fan would be an expert on the true defenition of choking. That would be funny. But not nearly as funny as 1978, when Boston blew a 14-game lead and lost the division on the last day of the season. BTW - I'm not about to call this one over. 5.5 games is hardly insurmountable.
Thor99
BTW - I'm not about to call this one over. 5.5 games is hardly insurmountable. Exactly. Especially when the Sox still have 4 more games against the Yanks.

BTW - I'm not about to call this one over. 5.5 games is hardly insurmountable. This race is nowhere near over. Two 3 game series sweeps and it's back to 1.5 games. Let's not forget that in 1978, the Yankees also had a lead in the last week of the season and lost 2 of 3 to the Indians at home (anyone remember Rick Waits?) to allow the Red Sox to force the playoff.
