The Grades Are In (Week 7)

Excellent Joe.

Except that Nugent sucks. Screw the wind. Kickoffs with no air under them only making it to the 9, 11, and 17? And with the wind (if it's THAT strong) they should all be kicked clear past the back of the endzone every time.

Graham should kick off. Just let Nugent kick chip-shot's unless he can't do that either with a game on the line.

Now I realize that Westhoff is making him do this directional kick thing. And I haven't looked at where the Jets opponents stand in return yards and average starting position. But his kicks are landing at the 12. This is not good.

I have to think if Nugent had a chance at the end zone, Westhoff would just let him blast it and get the touchback. That isn't the case here.

Also I would love to see what Graham could do on kickoffs. I know they have tried it in practice, this staff leaves no stone unturned. I guess the results weren't any better.

Nugent's 31 kick-offs have averaged to the 9 yard line. The return average is 21.3 yards, thus the opponents average starting field position is across the 30 yard-line.

Interesting, thanks for the link. So they are doing the directional kick and are still giving up above average returns. In the process they sacrifice distance. Which tells me:

if they let Nugent kick to the middle of the field, they know the returns would be MUCH worse. I like you Mike but have to say -- the expectations for you were MUCH higher.

All I did was provide the facts that you asked for.

BTW, if you believe into that "directional" kick-off excuses, you are dumber than I thought.

A kicker drafted in the 2nd round should be able to consistently kick the ball past the 9 yard line.

Face it, the Jets wasted a 2nd round pick on a friggn' kicker.;)

So the theory is, kick it not as far so your subpar coverage team can hold them to the 30. Yeah.... sound judgement.

Tx --

I really think your ego has gotten the better of you. When I said I like you Mike, but the expectations were much higher -- I was talking about Mike Nugent. Holy egomaniac, lol.

I think we are saying the same thing. I was not saying the directional kicks are holding him back. I am saying the directional kicks are keeping the bleeding to a minimum (or so the Jets must feel).

Man this is just like the time you posted on the wrong board! Slow down son.

tx, you owe someone an apology

Tx apologized to me via PM. He PMs me every Tuesday morning with a list of people that he wants banned. Then he tells me how much his donation check will be for the week.

Yeah, that one is for you! You know who you are, lol!!!
