Bob
Depending on your definition of "rocker," I'd say Madonna. If people split hairs between, pop, rock, etc., the answers will be all over the place.

JetCane
Yes, Madonna, if rock includes pop. Good call on Chrissy Hynde, The Pretenders rock. But I'd say Stevie Nix had a bigger impact due to Fleetwood's popularity. As a musician, I'd put Bonnie Raitt near the top.

Garb
Ann Wilson and Annie Lennox - (love her- one of my all time favorites: Would I Lie to You.) Pat was cool. Great voice. Opera trained, I think. Gee, anyone know that for sure?

Maxman
I have been reading this thread. I am shocked nobody voted for Weird Al. Not Pac Man Fever Weird Al, but the later stuff like the Thriller parody. That was far more popular than anything Benatar could ever create. EM31
Guys, I can't tell you how to vote. But if Benatar wins you will all be banned. So many to choose from.... Belinda Carlisle...(go go's) a bit chunky but good pipes... er... Susanna Hoffs (Bangles).... <walk like an Egyptian...sings>... Posh Spice... I agree with those who wrote in Chrissy Hynde. Honorable mentions to Annie Lenox, Shiela E. and probably several others whose names escpe me.
vanDoug
As a guitarist, Jennifer Batten deserves a lot of credit. Anybody that can paly in Jeff Beck's group can PLAY. I'm happy that nobody is mentioning Courtney Skank.
