JetCane
This series is no contest, is that what I am led to believe? I mean, they've played three games against the inferior NL team, so the Tigers should be up at least 4-0 by now. Right?

That is a slap in the face of the Tigers who play "Detriot Rock City" after their wins. I like it. BTW: I want the Tigers to win but I laid down 50 in vcash on the Cards before the series started. Just a hunch.
Barton
The NL is inferior, the interleague record and talent pool will show this, but the cards and tigers are about even. Slight edge to the tigers with pitching, but anything can happen which is what I've agreed with jf80 on many times. Go Cards!
Blackout
i want the cards to win, I'm happy for Pujols but I still think the fact that the AL whooped the NL's ass in interleague play is enough to conclude that the AL in general is a more talented league

JerryK
I'm a Michigan guy, so I have to want the Tigers to win...but the Cards have been consistently good for several years. It'd be nice to see it pay off for them.

In fact, they didnt even notice! and... Way to hedge your bets on the "I want one team to win but laid down vash on the other...woo hoo" thing. Thats wicked lame. Scott Dierking
I do not think the Tigers or the Cards are the best teams from their respective leagues. It is the way the system works, and the majority of the time, teh best team will win over 7 games. You can make a strong case that the Tigers were the best AL team-For a good part of the season, they had the best record in the AL, and only stumbled at the end. People over-valued the Yankees, because they were the Yankees, and under-valued teh Tigers. I have no problem saying that teh Tigers are the best AL team. The Cardinals, they have strong pitching and strong defense and have the best hitter in baseball (sorry A-Rod). That makes them dangerous. They received a break with teh Mets having some injuries, but they did what they had to do. I have no problem saying the Cards are the best NL team as we stand here today. Yep the 2 best teams in Baseball are playing in the WS. All the BS about inferior league and the Yankees are the best team is just that....B.S. This series is why I said earlier that both the Mets or Cards would have had no problem with the Yankee team we saw in the ALDS.
Mavrik
I do not think the Tigers or the Cards are the best teams from their respective leagues. if the so-called "best teams" don't make the world series, or don't win a championship, how exactly can you call them "the best team"? Being the best team doesn't always mean having the superior talent. It includes many other things including among other things playing as one. Say what you want, the Mets and the Yanks were not the best teams in teh majors. If they were, they'd be playing in the Bronx and at Shea right now. The margin of difference in the Mets-Cards series was incredibly small. I'd say the Mets would be just as competitive against the Tigers as the Cards. So, the Yankees have not necessarily been the best team 26 times, just the hotter team at the end of the year? Kinda takes the lustre off a little. Kinda takes the lustre off a little. If you are a fan you take it anyway you can. As a Mets fan, you should know this. In 2000 and 96 were the Yankees the best team in MLB? Probably not. True, they won, but there were others who were better teams, but lost out in a short series.

shutout
I would like to surgically remove my foot from my mouth and admit I was 100% wrong for writing off the Cardinals in this series. I can honestly say, despite being way, way, waaaaaaaaay off on my prediction for the world series,I would've been happy for either team that won it. I've got nothing against the Tigers or the Cardinals, and there really aren't any negative personalities on either team (some may say Kenny Rogers, but I could care less about the guy). Congrats to the Cardinals, and to the Tigers, who despite losing were still the best story of the season.
