serphnx
I had this feeling a few weeks ago against the jags and now again against the Browns (I don't even know if they're a good defense). When Penny throws an INT or is otherwise disrupted, he goes into a shell. He won't take anymore risks, and he's just completely out of rythm. The guy can't forget the INT and just keep playing like he should be. Against the Jags, he looked fine until the INT. Against the Browns, it's the same thing, the offense really hasn't done anything since. A good defense is going to disrupt you, either by INT or knocking away a pass you thought would be complete. A weak defense may never do that to you. I think Brees and Manning (Peyton only) are the same. Discuss.

serphnx
After Miller's return, notice how Penny is playing better. Is it just me or does anybody else notice this too? Miller's TD basically sparked Penny, he needs other people to spark him. The rest of the offense takes it's cue from the QB. So when Penny goes into a shell, unless another player somehow steps up, the offense might be done for the game. How do we fix this problem? I'm pretty sure he his putting too much on his throws as well,he's throwing balls with lots of velocity(for chad) but is missing receivers 10 yards down the field
serphnx
Well, now that he's lost to a 1-5 team, and threw ducks for his last 14 passes or so, can we try for Clemmons now? Penny is probably injured again anyway.

If he makes a mistake early, he tightens up and tries to be too perfect...

ECURB
Its called momentum guys... not many people can play like everything is fine when your team plays like crap... Penny had a tough time becuase of his recievers, himself, his line, his coaches.... to say he goes into a shell is dumb... he threw more deep passes today thatn I can remeber, and he avoided short passes a lot of deeper more risky passes... I think our team wasnt taking this game seriously, notice how we caught up once they noticed the Browns werent that bad... going into the BYE week I think mor ethna half the team was banking on being 5-3 Pennington doesnt suck against good defenses... he sucks when nobody helps him.... why did we blow 2 3rd downs today?? Was it Penny?? No it was dumb playcalling and having Smith in at QB... that doesnt work in week 8... maybe in week 3 but cut the crap already... the other team knows whats up

Penny threw plenty of short passes, just as many as he does any other game. The problem was they were either 10 yards over the receivers head or 5 yards wide. KSJets
I love reading message boards after games. When we win, we're going to the Super Bowl. When we lose, let's bench everyone because they suck. It's quite comical actually.

They schedule is easy as this year has been about next year from the start anyhow. I think that Clemens should've been in the end of today's game. When it was "junk time" -- Chad was not getting it done and we were down in the 4th quarter... bring in the kid. Thing is, Clemens has been 3rd string the last couple weeks, meaning that Mangini has no interest in using him until chad is officially out for the count. I have a feeling chad won't get hurt this year, though.
KSJets
well, mr chad, why don't you go out and celebrate that 21.1 rating and the win? Well, I guess since they have a bye and will probably lose to the Pats and Bears, we'll have to put up with your sorry ass for a few more weeks until we win again. Biggs
Pennington is the best QB we have on the roster, he starts simple as that. If he's game keeps going south the way it has the last few weeks he is going to be benched. The weather is getting worse and the refs are going to let Defenses disrupt the WR a little more now that every one understands the rules. Chad has to turn his game and his mindset around very fast or he might just play himself out of the league. Perfect time for a bye.
James Hasty
The Browns were very physical with our wideouts. I am not sure they were getting open with any consistency. Even on the final drive, our TE Chris Baker had to come up big. I am not so sure that Chad is the problem here.
Sperm Edwards
you aren't considering formations or patterns that we don't employ due to the QB not being able to make a play even if the player would get open. We wouldn't try an out-pattern of 20 or more b/c even if open Chad can't hit him. And they weren't getting "very physical" with dumpoff passes in the flat that Chad flat-out missed as well. Ten
If you remember back to week 1,Chad actualy threw a lot of passes to the sidelines.Over the last two weeks i can't remember any passes going to the sdelines. I think this could be his arm starting to hurt from two surgeries. His arm was kept fresh because he shared snaps with 3 other QBs in camp but now he's getting all the snaps and i think his arm is getting tired. He keeps putting a lot more zip than he needs to on his passes, possibly because if he throws it normaly then it will float. This in turn is making his passes less accurate and thus makes him feel uncomfortable about throwing into coverage.Chad really didn't want to throw to the middle of the field yeesterday,he kept to the safer routes, the fly patterns and dumpoffs, the passes that have less chance ofbeing intercepted if you are inaccurate.
