Hey Draft Daddy boys

There are very few NT in this coming draft. The only decent NT that the draft sites have reported has been Pit**** from OSU. I'm still not sold on our QB situation. Or RB,OG, ILB, and CB for that matter. We have some decent guys but no real all pro players there. I would say Vilma but he isn't great in our new def scheme.

We have re done the draft daddy positional rankings instead of just "DE and DT" there are now 4-3 DE, 4-3 DT, 3-4 DE and NT (both 4-3 or 3-4) - this might be viewed as unnecessariliy projecting players and maybe that's the case...

But the way we see it, having 1 defensive tackle list is like having one "offensive line" list without taking into account the virtues of the players as centers, guards and tackles. Is it fair to put Brick and Mangold side by side and evaluate them as equals? Probably not because the expectations of their positions are different. So it goes with defensive linemen.

Just like in that case you can take an offensive tackle from the offensive tackle list and make him an offensive guard on the next level, likewise you can take a 3-4 DE from that list and make him a 4-3 DT. This is where we project the players, not necessarily will the NFL agree (and that's a risk we are willing to take).

RE: NT

here's the bad news fellas, there are no high profile nose tackles in the next two draft classes (juniors and seniors). There is no "next Ted Washington" on the horizon, so put that thought away right now. Even the guy everyone wants junior Alan Branch of Michigan projects to 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE due to his height.

the good news is that there are a group of sleepers on the west coast such as Brandon Mebane of Cal, Louis Leonard out of Fresno and Howie Fuimano out of UNLV.

they all exhibit the key characteristics of being a nose tackle, that is run stuffing, gap plugging, relatively slow and hard to move, between 6-0 and 6-3 and over 300 pounds.

we consider Jay Alford is an undersized 4-3 DT - but a scrappy player who could possibly be a 3-4 DE. He's a gap shooter who has been playing better as the year has gone on. (quinn pit**** is also a gap shooter).

Sad state of affairs in the DT crop this year. They will pursue free agents, for example the undersized but scrappy Ian Scott from the Bears (poor man's Jason Fergeson) but all in all I can't really see the Jets improving on existing NT talent through either the free agent market or the early rounds of the draft. they could take a sleeper and find their solution that way however.

No Ryan McBean? Good.. Hope Jets take him in day 2 to play DE.

DeRosia is 6 6 325 as listed....Put school level and size aside, How different between Branch, Bryant and DeRosia?

What do you think of another small school DT, Sioux Falls' Deyontae Batiste who is listed as 6 2 330.

Isn't Ian Scott the pick Chicago took with our 4th-rounder from the DRob trade?
