uart
Here are the Yankees who have filed for free agency. What do you want to do about them?: Miguel Cairo Octavio Dotel Tanyon Sturtze Ron Villone Bernie Williams Craig Wilson ---- Here's my plan: 1) Cairo -- Keep him. Excellent utility guy, and he's an everyday player in a pinch if someone gets hurt. 2) Dotel/Wilson/Bernie -- if they're going to be affordable (and in Bernie's case, if he's prepared to play a reduced role again), then bring them back. 3) Sturtze/Villone -- NOPE. kloogy
Miguel Cairo - I don't care either way, but he is our current version of Luis Sojo Octavio Dotel- How much will he want ? He isn't bad for long relief. Tanyon Sturtze- Go away Ron Villone - Hope he never wears pinstripes again Bernie Williams- Bring him back. He is obviously not done. Craig Wilson- Go away. uart
For using Miguel Cairo and the word Excellent in the same sentance you should have your yankee fandom stripped... Eat me. We went to the WS with him at 2nd base. He can do anything. He plays EVERY infield position, and I believe he can play outfield too. If he could spot start, I'd give him a 7 year deal. Miguel Cairo isn't hung like a horse. Horses are hung like Miguel Cairo. If you can't see Miguel Cairo, you may be only seconds from death. Miguel Cairo is the only known human to eat three 12-lbs. steaks in an hour. He spent the first 45 minutes banging the waitress. Never ask Miguel Cairo for a "three-hole punch". uart
-bring bernie back as #4 outfielder Bernie can't be the #4 outfielder unless you intend to ship out Matsui or Melky. Melky earned a spot on this team, and as the youngest man in the outfield, and one of the strongest arms, he's WAY more valuable than Bernie as a 4th outfielder (or IMHO, than Matsui as a LF). So, Bernie would be on the bench. No, he's not done as a player, but he's prob. not going to be a regular player on next year's Yankees. Do you think he will accept that to stay at home? You definitely have to TRY to keep him though.

uart
Yes. giambi will be converted into a full time DH. Like he was supposed to be this year.. Right, So Bernie's role would have to be as a part-time DH/OF/PH

madmike1
Like he was supposed to be this year.. Right, So Bernie's role would have to be as a part-time DH/OF/PH No it won't because they will have Melky as a 4th outfielder and Guiel as a backup 1B. Bernie really has no place on the team next year.
Sharrow
Jamie Walker is better then either of them... The same Jamie Walker that batters hit over .300 against in the second half? Funny. Are you sure you don't want to sign villone to a multi-year deal considering that he's sooooo good as long as he doesn't get over-worked?

If they trade him, it better be a blockbuster. There is no good excuse to give up a young roleplayer like Melky to make room for more old-bones. Barton
I really dont like us resigning Mussina. Schmidt > Mussina, by alot. Schmidt has the stuff to switch over leagues without a problem, and he has the stuff to dominate in the postseason. Not to mention he's about 6 years younger than Moose. If we could sign Schmidt to a 3 year deal, with a team option for the 4th for the same money we'd be paying Moose in his new deal, I'd rather have Schmidt. Mussina is pretty good, but he is such a puzzy sometimes.

Barton
why not sign both? Thats exactly what I would try to do if I was Cashman. Get Matsuzaka. Resign Moose. Sign Schmidt. Schmidt, Wang, Matsuzaka, Moose, Randy = Yankees 5 man rotation 1 of these guys would go down with some injurys, preferably Randy from this list, I just want to f'n guy to retire. So Randy is still your "dominant" lefty? The Yankees rarely win the World Series without a DOMINANT left-handed starter.

Know of any good left-handed starters available? I sure dont. Mulder s decent, but he's coming off a huge injury. I honestly want Arod traded to the Dodgers or Angels for a pitcher and their respective 3rd baseman we could obtain (Laroche - Dodgers) (Wood - Angels). But this probably wont happen.
