Bugg
Concert in Portland, Maine on Monday was cancelled without explanation- http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=61682
AFJF
Actually, Axls "old tricks" usually means not showing up at the venue for the show. Any time he announces to people that the show is cancelled and not to come out to the venue it's a bit different. He's the biggest ego maniac on the planet without a doubt. I've read on a few sites that the authorities were throwing up a ton of red tape in the days leading up to the show. Threatening to arrest people for the smallest of infractions and heavy fines if the band played past midnight. Found the PR....here it is TONIGHT'S GUNS N' ROSES SHOW IN PORTLAND, MAINE IS CANCELLED *** Tonight's show at the Cumberland County Civic Center has been cancelled due to limitations imposed by local fire marshals. A band spokesperson commented, "Axl and the band are very unhappy about not being able to play for the fans in Portland but have been advised after several meetings with local fire marshals Nelson Collins and Bob Cadigan that they have made it impossible for the band to perform their show to the usual high standards that their fans deserve. More importantly, we have been informed that officials intend to enforce rules and regulations that should not and do not apply in this venue. Our production manager and crew have been in this building with Clay Aiken and Green Day and none of the restrictions imposed on Guns N' Roses were experienced by those artists. It is our opinion that they are going out of their way to target and single out Guns N' Roses and the band's loyal fans. Following consultation with the band's manager, agent and promoter, it was felt that it was best to cancel the show. It is a regrettable decision, particularly at this late notice, but it is of paramount importance that our fans have the best experience possible without being harassed and threatened. We look forward to continuing the tour in Worcester on Wednesday." **PLEASE NOTE THAT TICKETS CAN BE EXCHANGED AT THE DCU CENTER SHOW IN WORCESTER, MASS THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT - NOVEMBER 8TH. TICKETS WILL BE EXCHANGED FOR BEST AVAILABLE LOCATIONS AT THE DCU CENTER. If you are unable to attend the Worcester show, refunds will be available at point of purchase
DireJet38
Wow, it amazes me people will still crawl out of their caves to see this clown show. With the bevy of burgeoning acts coming into the forefront of music today, it makes no sense to keep rehashing stale ego-rock.

And when have you been to the new gnr shows? Talking out of your a$$ maybe.....? Concerts get cancelled by every band or group. You still get your money back in this case. Slash would be the only reason to see guns n' roses, not a whiney little bitch that desperately needs to be slipped a high dosage of ego destroying acid. 2 Acts off the top of my head that you should check out (I don't listen to emo music) 1) Robert Randolph and the Family band 2) My Morning Jacket Yea, you get your money back for the ticket, but not for gas, beer, food, marijuana, and any other substance you purchase to enjoy the music... The ticket to a concert is generally the cheapest part of the venture.
Bugg
One problem GnR had in the day-they insist on showing up and playing late. It's not 1989 any more. It costs venies big-time in OT and insurance to stay open past 11PM. Unions don't give a rat's a$$ about how cool it is to play late-go past 11 and it's double and triple time. And insurance companies know the later such a show goes the more likely you'll have more drunk and high people doing dumb things and looking to sue the venue afterward. This is a business and if you don't want to play by the rules, don't cry when people decide, even alte in the game not to do business with GnR. Plus Clay Aiken has never had his fans trash Olympic Stadium. Though the image of them trying to do so, limp wrists tilted at a rakish angle, with their handbags forcefully extended, with French-speaking cops laughing as they put down the revolt, is precious. Music around today is pretty hurting. Again, it's not 1989. Think of Grand Funk Railroad making such demands in 1990, with Mark Farner and nobody else still with the band. That's the kind of ridiculousness this is. If Axl wants to guarantee promoters and venues don't carry his show, keep it up.

You talk like somebody who has already heard the new GnR album and doesnt like it. You call Axl washed up, but havent heard him on the new album or seen him live........ Because if you saw him live as he is right now, trust me, you wouldnt be calling him "washed up".

Barton
I just move on. That era of music is dead to me. Has been, it's better to catch things when they are either revealing themselves or peaking... Just my opinion. Thats all true. The new album wont sound anything like appetite or illusion though. When the album comes out and if you think it sucks, I'd like to here why. It would be hilarious if you said "Because it doesnt sound like GnR", yet that era of music is dead to you. It will sound much different, give it a try with a clean slate is what I'm saying. They shouldnt call themselves GnR though.
AFJF
To each his own...some people still listen to the beach boys for god sakes. Talk about a dated act. I can't relate to it, but I can respect it. Axl is a head case but still puts on a great show IMO.
The Troll
Mainstream rock SUCKS today, and what I hear on satellite radio from the "underground" bands that are supposedly gonna save rock 'n roll gives me little hope for the future. Not like they won't sell out and be molded into whatever mutation the recording industry wants them to be. This is a great year for real music. New albums from Dylan, Cash, and the Killer (NOT plural), GnR is touring again. I could really care less about newer artists. When one impresses me, they'll be the first. The Raconteurs, Wolfmother, Supergrass, Secret Machines, Queens of the Stone Age.. unfortunately that's all i can think of, but you should give them a listen

Even if you don't like that song you should really give them a try. Definitely listen to the Raconteurs. Great music that doesn't sound like anything but a great rock band

Preston Howley III
Let me get this out of the way first- The worst thing I can say about Axl Pose and G n R is, they were a rock and roll cliche. The best thing I can say about them is, if I had a rock and roll band, they would sound exactly like guns and posers. Make no mistake, they ripped off their entire act from these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhXbuZmFB7I
CrazyCarl40
I went and saw the "new" G n' R the first time they came around, you know to a show they actually played. And I was right in front of the stage in the pit, right in front of Axl. And he can still sing. BUt he will forever be Axl. And Axl is a douchebag. I also found it funny it took three different guitarists to play all of Slash's solos.

Concerts get cancelled by every band or group. You still get your money back in this case. There's plenty of stuff out now that isn't emo and is still way better than GNR and that giant douche Axl. Queens of the Stone Age, Nebula, Orange Goblin, Corrosion of Conformity, The Hidden Hand, The Mars Volta, Dead Meadow, and Pelican just to name a few. Definitely about a million times better than the MTV pop radio sh!t.

Barton
Hanoi Rocks. LOL you think GnR copied those guys lmfao. Did GnR take their look too? lmfao. Those guys never made it. Edit: And they sound nothing like GnR. They sound more like a pop metal band or punk.
