How soon will it be...

Never.

As the league is currently constructed/financed, I can not see the average salary hitting 8 figures anytime soon.

In 2005, the average salary was 2.476 million. Too many KCs and Tampas in baseball to hit a 10 million average.

Maybe a team will hit the 10 million mark for average salary or median salry, but not the whole league.

but if teams are willing to pay juan pierre 10 million to decline and continue to be a singles hitter, its only soon enough where your Miguel Cairo's and Doug Maribelli's are making that much bank

10 million per player?

Not yet. But it will not be far off, at the rate things changed this off-season.

The sad part of all this is that it is more difficult to take a family of 4 to a baseball game anymore. The other major sports are already priced in the stratosphere, and baseball is getting ever so close there also.

Too bad.
