chad2colesin06=---
i really think we should avoid turner, this thread is kinda ridiculous, we prob wont even get him and there is a thread about what # he will wear, kinda premature and dumb. The Gun Of Bavaria
Before you think about Turner's jersey number, think about the fact he's a Restricted Free Agent. That's gonna come with a steep price.

Here are your rumors from around the NFL for Friday 1-12-07. ~ ~ ~ The Jets are contemplating whether or not to offer their 1st round pick for Chargers FA to be Michael Turner. They feel no other RB at that spot in the draft could have the impact Turner could have and be the proven player Turner has been in the NFL. > http://www.packerchatters.com/op-ed/view.php?id=

124
Like I've said time and time again, I'm down. Michael Bush isn't **** and Marshawn Lynch and Adrian Peterson will be both be gone by the Top 15, 16, around there. No way Lynch falls into the 20's and he's not worth trading up for if we can aquire Turner for our 1st rounder which is what? 25th or 26th overall? I'd do it in a heartbeat. He's young, NFL proven and under Schottenheimer would really produce well. Heck, under any OC aside from Mike Martz he'd perform well because they'd run him 20+ times a game. 124
He's a free agent if they dont tag him. RESTRICTED free agent. We'd still be giving up draft picks or they could match the deal and keep him. Trading our 1st rounder to them would work out the best.

124
You dont think we would be able to gert him with one of our second rounders 124? Not in a trade, nope, San Diego values him way too much. If you want to part with a second rounder we could probably pry away Clinton Portis from Washington which have been in the papers for weeks now about a possible 2nd ronder OR Vilma for Portis deal. ECURB
OR Vilma for Portis deal. That would be a terrible deal... We shouldnt settle for less than a top 10 pick for Vilma... though I would rather see him as a JET than give him away... He is way too smart and too hard of a worker to lose.... He didnt have a stellar year but he did eclipse 100 total tackles again, he will get better, look how many people gave up on Bthomas and now he is one fo our better players... ECURB
OK I am sold on this guy, nobody in the 1st round (in our reach anyways) even comes close to Turners already proven potential. Shotty knows him, he had a great year this year even being behind LT... What RB could we draft better in the late 1st round... NONE. 5'10" 237lbs 2006 - in 13 games behind LT 80 Attempts / 502 Yards / 6.3 YPC / 73 Long / 2TD's / 7 Runs of 20+ / 24 1st downs Bring Michael Turner to the New York Jets! I dont know that he would want #23, maybe he will pry his #33 away from E.Smith... either way... hopefully we can get used to seing that jersey in Green and White... gsnts725
if we trade our first rounder for michael turner it could turn out to be another jolley deal and we all know what happened there. we could also miss out on some good players that could help our d. on the other hand, when he has gotten a chance to play he has played well and he will fill our BIG hole at RB and may be all he needs is a starting job. =]

Michael Turner was a 5th round pick, i hardly believe we will have to give up a 1st rd pick for a guy who have never started a game If we make a huge salary offer, Bolts will not match .. they have LT no need to pay Turner big bucks

He had a career high 80 carries this season. That hardly seems like enough to prove yourself as a 16-game, 320 carry starting running back in the NFL. Edit: Forgot to say it is hardly enough to warrant giving up a 1st round pick for. I have a hard time seeing Mangini doing this deal. It just doesn't make sense for so many reasons. He has proved more than any of the backs we could draft in the 1st round.... just earning playing time behind LT is an accomplishment in itself... Turner is like drafting a RB but knowing what he can do... I mean c'mon our OC was a coach on that team... if he is worth it Im sure he will be a NYJ.
