vanDoug 28,202 Posted March 28, 2005 I'm listening to Jack Johnson "In Between Dreams." You are not cool if you do not own it. Never heard of the guy. But the chance of me being regarded as cool are about zero. Got The Mars Volta on now. Some fun stuff. d

vanDoug 28,202 Posted July 30, 2005 Doug what's this I hear about you BC Types digging tunnels into the US??? Too funny, I hadn't heard about that. But here it is. http://www.nbc30.com/nbc30/4756883/detail.html Click on the slide show and watch/read. Authorities on both sides watched them build it, then busted the known traffickers when they used it. :? d

vanDoug 28,202 Posted January 23, 2007 Synesthesia - Porcupine Tree Hey, great to hear a band I've actually heard of. The rest of the songs you guys list on the last 10 pages or so is some pretty obscure sh**. cheers, d NP - Alamaailman Vasarat - "Vanha Lapsuudenystava"

vanDoug 28,202 Posted December 5, 2007 Don't Let It Bring You Down by Neil Young-I'm learning this one today... Doesn't this song have some kind of open tuning? I remember trying to learn it from the record a long time ago and giving up. d
vanDoug 28,202 Posted December 5, 2007 I listened to 2 different versions that I have of it yesterday Doug and the live one from Massey Hall you can hear him tuning the two "E's" down to "D's"-I'm using a capo on the 3rd fret and only tuning the low E down also it's a tough one to sing he's way up there but it only sounds good if you keep it in the original key-some songs can be effectively transposed and some must be kept right-for some reason The dreaded double drop D tuning. The End by the Doors uses this too. For DLIBYD I think Neil uses some interesting chord fingerings as well. If you can nail this song Jim, it will go over well in your set. d
vanDoug 28,202 Posted December 14, 2007 Some song by Ozric Tentacles. I'd written these guys off as uninteresting to me a few years ago. But a friend just sent me something, so I'm spinning. Not bad.

vanDoug 28,202 Posted July 5, 2009 qFhM1XZsh6o Good one. I remember when this came out. It was soooo heavy. (OK the word worked at the time) Mountain was great. Leslie West....what a great lead/chord player and singer Poor Felix, shot by his wife (Gail Collins) who did the Nantucket Sleighride artwork. We lost a great talent there. vanDoug 28,202 Posted July 5, 2009 Doug, I have no idea. That is one of all my albums which were stolen on my move from California to New York in 2001. I can't even think about this without getting angry/sad. It has taken me years to put my collection back together in digital form. But, all those autographed or one-of-a-kind records are gone forever. Nantucket Sleigh Ride and Climbing are two of the best albums from that era. Mountain should have been 10X bigger than they were. Most folks have no idea the gifted producer and writer Pappalardi was. Just ask the guys in Cream. While almost all my vinyl is long gone I still have the LP insert that came with NS. It's a booklet that has the lyrics and several illustations by murderer GC. (*&^%$#@!) FP was genius or very close to, he knew what would work.
