KRhodes25
The Jets have decided to retain DE Kimo von Oelhoffen. While he didn't have a good season in 2006, von Oelhoffen would also be costly to release. He may face competition to start. -good move we need some depth at DL

ECURB
I knew we would keep him for depth, I bet he will be a great backup... he will be fresh when he plays.... he is too old to play every down but can do the job when needed. Lets not forget the guy just won a Superbowl as a 3-4 DE 2 seasons ago. If we dont find a starter to replace him though we are in trouble.

The Troll
I don't see any reason to keep him, whatsoever. He's old and he sucks. "He'll be fresh"? Are you ****ting me? We could sign Richard Dent and put him in the rotation too. He'll be fresh.

What's the alternative? if they draft 1st round DE, then that would work, but free agents don't seem to hot on DT/DE's this year. For lack of a better player i'm happy with it. For lack of a better player i'm happy with it. We could probably draft an end on the second day of the draft that would be better than Kimo. And, not only does Kimo completely suck, he also has a salary that doesn't come close to matching what (very little) he gives you on the field. Unless he restructures to the veteran minimum, he should be cut.

Unless he restructures to the veteran minimum, he should be cut. I'll give you that. If he's making much more than minimum there is no reason to keep him. As barton said, Hamilton outplayed kimo...yeah no sh!t, i'm as surprised about ditching hamilton as the next guy. 2nd round DE/DT...yeah there could be some decent ones, but i don't know that they'd be big enough, smart enough to step in and be effective in the first year. All told, as long as Kimo doesn't start, or get even 20% of the snaps, i think he'll be better next year than last.
4HCrew
I do not mind him on the roster for depth but cannot keep him at the same salary that is a complete joke. What is the front office embarassed for cutting the rest of their free agent signings? oh wait Chatham and Kassell are still on the team
SeniorFlaJet
I would wait until tomorrow to see what happens. Its possible his agent left off the following at the end of that statement...... "As long as he restructures".
JETSFAN5180
Lets hope the front office is still working and the day is not over for them. Kimo is a poor excuse for a defensive lineman.

124
I'm not happy with this offseason so far... And why is that? Free Agency hasn't even started and this is what we've done: Released Barlow Teague Blaylock Hamilton Re-Signed Cotchery So what if we are retaining Kimo? He was a very good clubhouse prescense and I believe they wanted to keep him only if he remade his deal, which if they're retaining him it must mean he has. He will not be a starter next season, he will play in a minimal role so please, get over it! Oh and Adalius Thomas is 30 years old and he has NOT signed with anybody yet. I guess "Kimo is better than no one" is there thinking right now. Doesn't mean he won't get cut later on.
