Leonard Davis

another rumor - the Jets called Leonard Davis agent to put a frame work on what it would cost.

besides the source, a reason i believe this to be a true rumor is because teams probably know he can't play LT.

If someone signed him to LT money it would be lauded as a failure of judgement.

The market for this player may not be so hot, despite the lack of LT options, as he does play the position rather poorly.

The Jets might believe in his potential as a RT or even guard...

Leonard Davis at RT would add an expereinced yet still somewhat young addition to the OLine and would improve our OLine before the season even begins, especially if Mangini can get the most out of him, which I don't think Arizona did.

Very bad move in my opinion. He is known as "The Big Lazy" in most circles, I can post countless sources of team officials being disappointed with his work ethic and such. He has made about 40 million since joining the league, he has no reason to start busting his a** now. He is extremely overrated. I'd much rather have Clement or Pashos at RT....

This is not shocking. If (yes, IF) he can play above-average (not necessarily GREAT), we're in a position to bolster a damn strong OL with Blalock at #25:

D'Brick - Kendall - Mangold - Blalock - Davis

Moore is about as good of an insurance policy as you can get & signed long-term on the (relatively) cheap. Kendall is nothing special anymore, but he's certainly adequate if he's the weakest link. Plus, finding one OG in next year's draft (or late this year) is easier than the task at hand when Tangini took over.

I would have no objection to this, of course until such time as I saw Davis playing like Clement's twin brother.

That wouldn't be so hot if you ask me. He hasn't been lighting it up in ariz. Besides there are better options - especially if its to fill a spot a guard.

I know the jets won't be paying him OT $$ to play guard. I would think we'd be interested in him as a RT only.

Leonard Davis is overrated. If he wasn't a high draft pick nobody would care about him. I agree, if we can get him at RT money then fine.

Problem is, so many teams have cap space right now I don't know if the Jets can sign Davis to RT money. I don't think he's worth $ 7 million a year especially when we can get Blalock or Sears to play RT and draft Ramirez in the later rounds to play RG.

Also, I think Kendall is very close to being done. I don't want to see him as our starting LT next year.

Supposedly the Jets are one of the front runners to land Dockery the OG from the Skins.

Where did you see this? Dockery's a BIG dude & good as he is, Chris Samuels wasn't doing ALL the blocking down there. Enough for an otherwise great backup Ladell Betts to get 4.7ypc as a starter.

With that line, we could put Curtis back in there and he would get about 4.5 YPC, even without knees.

He played on the Cardinals. Even Ecurb would get a bad attitude playing for them

THey have ****ty kool-aide over there... :)

At least they finally showed they want to win by bringing in a franchise QB and a pro-bowl RB for him to hand off to...

Still it must suck to be a fan of that team... nice stadium they have though...

You are way off on the fact that this guy is over-rated. He is known around the leaue just as you said it "the big lazy" and he has been a huge bust. When everyone knows this it's hard to say that someone is over-rated just because some may still see some potential.

If Davis is looking for a big pay day he is going to be disappointed because it's not coming. I think adding a guy who weighs damn near 400 pounds to an offense that couldnt get much push up front could serve as a catalyst if he has any intention on salvaging whats left of his career. They need to determine what Davis is interested in before signing him obviously.

What is with the Jets getting all former Cardinal OLmen? First Kendall, then Clement (he played for AZ) and now possibly going after Davis? I hope not.

given the track record it's hard to argue it would be a bad move. Clement was basically exactly what we thought he was. He started all 16 games last year I think we got what was expected out of him, and Kendall has been a valuable pick up in my opinion.

If you sign davis to play the way he did in Arzona your wasting time and money, but if Mangini who I believe to be a good judge of character thinks he could take a 380 pound monster and turn him into a road grater at RT go for it if the price is right.
