If they aren't out spending a ton of money on free agents the first day then I back their play 100%. The sky is not falling because we haven't signed a free agent yet. By signing a bunch of JAGs, the Jets will be $50 million under the cap next year. Woo-hoo. At least let me think that there is some kind of dialogue between the Jets and a top-tier FA. They also had a draft that produced some major contributors to a 10-6 season. Hows that for justification? Maybe if they had brought in a decent DE in here other then Kimo Von OldCrap they would've been able to stop the run a little better then the pathetic display they put out there most of the season. Maybe if they had got a decent LB in here other then 2 complete pieces of CRAP in Kassell (who graham ran right by in the playoff game) and Chatham (who made bonehead play after bonehead play all season) they would've had a better chance at beating NE Maybe if they didn't FLUSH 2 picks for crap like Barlow and ramsey they would have more to trade this offseason. Barlow trade aside,thats the second time I've seen losing a draft pick for Ramsey brought up. You do realize that it was last years 6th rounder right? Since when is 1 year a record. a track record is usually based on at least a few years data. So what you have never heard of "hold the fort guys" now? I got it M& T were supposed to be perfect in everything they did in their first year on the job, not have a year to get their feet wet and evaluate the Jets talent level before deciding on the direction of the team. Maybe if you weren't a complete homer you would have realized we we're not a playoff team without mangini here. Secondly Mangini and Tannenbaum have already said countless times they are going to build through the draft not free agency. Free agency will be used to sign mid level guys who can help us out but won't cost ridiculous amounts of money. Just because you don't agree with their view doesn't mean its awful. We are not a player away from the Super Bowl, we can't spend all our money on one player such as Adalius Thomas. We need to have upgrades in lots of places. Tim Dwight - before he got hrut was a solid #3ish WR for us and great for PR Kevan Barlow - Sure he played like crap, maybe his leg wasnt 100%... he got us that win in NE though... could have done much worse here Hank Poteat - Was our starter for a while, and now ahs been re-signed Bobby Hamilton - Provided leadership and knew Mangini, also made a few big plays. (guys like this are needed for a new coach) Rashad Moore - Gave good depth to the NT position There was no superstar but they all played their role, thats how modern great teams get even better... you bring in guys like this to hold you over until you find a guy like Rhodes in the draft. No. In case you had not heard, when Ramsey was traded, the Jet brain trust had ZERO clue as to what Chad Pennington could give them, and how he would respond to re-hab and football activity. You see, a couple of little known facts here-Chad Pennington has been injury prone. He also was coming baack from two shoulder invasions from surgery. Forgive the Jets if they did not know what they were getting from him. The Jets needed someone who they felt could step in and be a QB, if they needed one. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle and capture what was once thought to be a bright prospect. The risk side of the trade was not huge since it was a meager pick, and their needs were huge. Be thankful Pennington started 16 games. It was FAR from a guarantee a year ago. Forgive the Jets for wanting to make a play for a QB they thought could help them. So, he turns into a stop gap.
