Duckett a possibility at RB for Jets

What the Jets do at running back remains the burning question as free agency kicked off on Friday and the Jets were silent spectators.

Unrestricted free agent T.J. Duckett (Redskins) is a clear candidate, with Chris Brown (Titans) also a possibility. Dominic Rhodes (Colts) is available but his recent DWI arrest may have scared the Jets off. He visited the Giants yesterday.

Duckett's agent, Joel Segal, said his client is eager to meet with the Jets and a visit could take place this week.

"We're working on something with the Jets," Segal said, adding that at least four teams are interested in Duckett. "T.J. expressed to me a great interest in the Jets. He likes the new regime."

Duckett rushed for 132 yards on 38 carries and two TDs for the Redskins last season.

Travis Henry, released yesterday by the Titans, and Corey Dillon (Patriots) are also possibilities, but neither seems to be a good fit. Henry is a diminutive back in the mold of the Jets' Leon Washington. Dillon, a 10-year veteran, is talking retirement.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum has said he'll be patient in free agency. The team is currently around $15 million under the salary cap. There are rumors the Jets may look to trade up in the draft to select a top-tier running back but that seems unlikely because the price would be steep and Tannenbaum insists he wants to build through the draft.

LaMont Jordan, the former Jets running back who is due a $4.75 million roster bonus on March 7, may be released by the Raiders. But someone with knowledge of the Jets' thinking indicated they aren't interested in Jordan. That person spoke on condition of anonymity because Jordan is still with the Raiders.

The Jets have shown no interest in giving up a first- and third-round pick for Chargers restricted free agent Michael Turner.

Right tackle is high on the Jets' list of priorities as well, and Marc Colombo (Cowboys) is reportedly among the players on the Jets' short list.

Oh happy day.

Just glad we wont be bringing rhodes in....he's nothing but a product of a great offense.

Couldn't agree more. Ducketts just the guy to go long side Leon he blocks he hits and from what we read he wants to play here. Thats the kind of guys I want on my team.

Back to Rhodes he's a ok running back but comming off a superbowl title he's not going to be as hungry plus I was never afriad of Rhodes to begin with. Week 4 I was more afriad of Addai then him and thats before anyone knew Addai. NFL game is about a power back and a speedy back like Leon takes 2 to tango now.

Why do they have no intrest in Lamont? Cuase maybe he has a little up side and isn't a fatass like Duckett who couldn't be out Betts in washington? I would take Lamont back over Duckett ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

Lamont Jordan would work for me too.

Did you not see the Falcons fade cause they lost DJ? The Redskins are run by moreons they trade a 3rd rounder for Duckett then not use him. I have a friend who bleeds bergandy and gold. All he talks to me about is Duckett and how under used he was. He also said if we get him we will get our dollars worth too. Lamont Jordons comming off injury he left once move on.

Thats like your girl leaving you for another man with more money he gets bored with her then you go back after he. Have some self dignaty man let him go.

I find it hard to believe that the Falcons dropped off cause they lost their backing RB...

I wouldn't be so sure of that AT ALL Smizzy.

Mike...My dead grandmother couple do a better job rushing the ball than Barlow did. and she was about 5'2 110 pds.

Face it...anybody we bring in is just here for the yr and whoever it is will be better than that worthless POS Kevan Barlow.

Duckett is pretty bad man. I just HATE the idea of punting another season and not getting at least a decent NFL starting RB.

Who's to say Leon Wasington isn't Tiki Barber? A solid oline makes good rb's just ask Denver.

The chances are that he's not and the jets will need another RB. I would rather that RB not be crap. Even a guy like Lamont is HEADS AND SHOULDERS better then Duckett.

this somes up duckett

there once was a back named duckett

his t!ts were so long he could suck it

he wiped his chin

with a grin

and his a$$ hangs so low

he could.... well you know

he is out of shape and slow

Not bad lol. However I think he can be a 15 touch back and get us those hard yards you need to win games. Besides Turner who do you want? Cause i'm on your side we need another RB somehow. If not Turner then who's worth it at the going price?

Lamont and Henry would both be exponentially better signings.

So what your saying is it's wrong to look at a power RB and a RT. Granted they aren't great but they sure beat Houston and Adrien jones.

Then your going to put a Kellen Clemens avatar up who's clearly 2nd tier to Chad. Cmon man stop being like Kerry and flip flopping.

what are u talking about? ure just putting words in my mouth. i just think duckett is terrible and he's not worth the Jets' time.
