ECURB
Kerry Collins? LOL This must be a joke.... Not to mention Chad is already helping him out, Chads no a selfish (Brett Farve/Mcnair) type QB who wont help the future QB out... We should get a "diamond in the rough" FA, or draft a 6th or 7th round QB as our #3 guy... I wouldnt mind Brad Smith being our #3 QB... he was pretty damn good in college and could obviously step in if we have another 2005 on our hands... pjam76
If Chad P starting and winning comeback player of the year doesn't mentor or motivate Kellon Clemmons, Kerry Collins sure won't be able to.

Mentos
If Clemens needs to be pushed to be the #2 QB, then drafting him was a horrible mistake. Just about every QB drafted in the first two rounds of a draft since free agency began has played meaningful football before his second year was complete. If Clemens can't even be the backup to Pennington in 2007, it's disgraceful.

Brad Smith hasn't even mastered the #3 receiver role. You want to dump qb duties on him too?

Yeah exactly, at this point our #3 QB can be anybody really... so why not save money and make it Smith, or draft a late round project QB... you might end up with a Tom Brady... it wouldnt hurt... 124
Remember when some thought Kerry Collins could push Chad Pennington for the starting job last season? I do. I'd rather bring back Vinny for one more year as the #3 as a very good mentor to THE FUTURE.

ECURB
Favre must be selfish, since the second stringers behind him haven't produced anything in this leage....Brunell, Hasselback hmm? He has said out loud to the media, as has Mcnair that they do not want to help the young QB behind him that might take their job... they both have said its not their job to mentor their replacement... lol... they are selfish.. I cant say I wouldnt be in that situation though.
pjam76
You are kidding right about Brunnell learning from Favre... Brunnell played what, 1-2 seasons behind Favre. Favre was a young QB back then. THen Brunnell went on to play for Jacksonville. There was no mentoring. Hassleback played 1-2 seasons behind Favre. Maybe there was some mentoring, but Hassleback improved because Holmgren brought him to Seattle. I don't know if Favre is good at mentoring or not and if you want to give him credit for Hassleback, that is great, but give me a break to think a 24-25 year old Brett Favre who was known as a partier, was mentoring the 23-24 year old Mark Brunnell. Lil Bit Special
Lets bring in Bledsoe... He does a really good job of holding a clip board and seems to give young QB's a chance to succeed.....
pjam76
IF the Jets don't want to spend cap room on FAs this offseason on players who might improve the team, WHY SPEND MONEY on A backup or third String QB who is only here to help push a 22 year old kid. If Kellon Clemmons needs a Collins, Bledsoe, Johnson, Garcia, or whomever to push him to be only the second string QB, then the Jets picked a real loser. Most QBs want to start in this league. If this kid needs a push to be the second stringer, he's kind of useless in the sense of football.
