PantyHose&Furs
Considering the following is anyone else thinking like I am... The Pats are definately acting very differently than their standard MO. They are usually the patient player in free agency. They are usually the team that finds the low priced player that fits ideally into their system that makes the collective whole much better than the parts, they usually don't "reach" at all...period. But this year they are. My gut...Belly's time is short, he knows it, and as a result he's reaching for peices because he knows with all the attrition to his staff, his team and his focus (alleged adultry issues) and his run is close to over. 3 yrs without a ring certainly qualifies as dead. Thomas is a nice pick up...but even colvin didn't fit in right away (when healthy) and i believe they jumped at thomas b/c bruschi might be done...bruschi is the heart and soul of that linebacking corp...even though thomas is younger, etc. you take away bruschi and i'm happy... as for kyle brady...you're kidding me right? he flat out sucked with the jets, he sucked with the jags and he'll suck in NE... welker...big deal. if welker is the peice that puts them over the top offensively i'd be shocked. Plus, this hurts Miami so that's OK too. Also, welker might have been necessary b/c Troy Brown might be done...again, Brown is so clutch, so much a part of the great NE legacy...basically besides Brady the bruschi of the offense so you take him away and i'm happy... As for the Jets...by all accounts this Free Agent class is mediocre at best. Don't forget that. Were there peices I wanted (samuel if he was available, clements but not for the most money ever to a defensive player, the Guard from cincinnatti) but no one that lights me on fire. Tangini did pretty well last year. They delivered. Period. Not in words but in actions. 10-6. Playoff game. A season where as fans we knew our team would be prepared, the coaches giving us the best chance, etc. Let's see what they can do. Also, NOTHING is won in the off-season. Just look at the idiots in the past that have jumped huge into the fray...they usually suck...i.e. Miami, Washington...Be patient. Don't let the past freak us out. We actually have a front office that has a plan to build a contender...not just to keep their jobs for a few years (herm)...

Last year fans all over the NFL were saying that the Pats were cheap because they had plenty of cap room and didn't make a splash in Free Agency. They received a 1st round pick from the Seahawks for a disgruntled Deon Branch and made it to the AFC Championship Game (Their 4th appearance since 2001). This year they are spending in Free Agency and now everyone thinks that BB is going to retire. The Pats just can't win in the court of public opinion. I love it! I'll half agree with you...they are clearly going out and doing what they think they need to do to win, and *on paper* they're doing a good job. However, i do agree that i don't think BB plans on being around much longer. No coach lasts forever, and lets be honest...before last year his legacy couldn't be any greater. After the Colts loss, he lost something...and he wants it back. Wasn't someone quoting him from the probowl where he said something like "21 points...i'll never let that go"....man wants revenge, then he's gone. Blurredorunfocused
Was`nt a large part of their success that no-one was paid shedloads more than anyone else on the roster? there is a chance this could all blow up in their faces....which would be nice:-)

Hello, yes I had a change to avoid any confusion with #90 who in fairness was here first and I did`nt check the list very well before joining. So the perfect harmony will resume in NE and there won`t be any resentment over the $$$ that are suddenly available?
KINGDIRK
Why is everyone acting like these Pats turned into the Washington Redskins overnight? They had cap room, went out and signed a top FA. They also picked up some spare parts as well. Thats it, end of story. They still have a bunch of draft picks, and if history dicatates, they will draft well. Those 2 first round picks hurt us. That suks. They can easily add an impact WR and another piece to that defense. Our arch enemies made a solid move, period. It suks, but its true. If the Jets were the Patriots right now, we'd all be posting celebratory notes about how great the move was and how we still have 2 first round picks, a 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder, etc. HOWEVER, F the Pats. While Brady and all those core guys creep up in age over the next few years, we'll be busy putting solid young players in place to make our own SB run soon. Hopefully in a year or 2, when we're 1 or 2 missing pieces away from a title, we'll be able to add that dope FA.

Do the poms have any chance of winning the World Cup in either cricket or rugby? New Zealand and South Africa are the form teams in cricket right now and in rugby the All Blacks look lethal. Hahahahahahahahahaha, Aaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha Well I know very little of either, but I wold expect them to fail miserably at both, so an early exit would be great, then we won`t get the media whipping everyone into a frenzy about how we are England and we are the best and we should by rights win every sport we enter into yawn yawn etc etc

Let alone the poor showing in the Six Nations by your Rugby team. At least you have the Jets!
Blurredorunfocused
Yeah, the ashes debacle brought everyone down to earth(I found it hysterical) but then we were told how it was a blip and our wonderous victory in the one day series thing was the true England and how we are now onto better things and will surprise everyone at the WC. I think the aussies just felt sorry for us and after 3 months did`nt want us to leave empty handed incase we never came back so they can do it all again. And that batttering at the hands of the Irish was hardly unsurprising either. But yes I have faith in the Jets even if no other sport or team has brought me happiness
PFSIKH
Little Bill is acting like Big Bill this off-season Hardly. As Gainzo alluded to, the Patriots have been labeled as being cheap. However, they have paid top dollar for players respective to their positions (Brady, Seymour, Light and Vinatieri). They have also spent big on FAs (Colvin and attempted run at Derrick Mason in 2005). Now, is letting Willie, Deon, Adam and company go last year a more prudent decision now? Yes. Maybe, Adalius will be as good as he gets, but he is 5 years younger then McGoo. He should still be playing long after McGoo hangs them up. Your boys are no match for the Kiwis next year in the Rugby World Cup. BTW: I was born in NZ so I'm a huge All Black supporter.
