John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports unrestricted free-agent RB Ahman Green (Packers) has reached a contract agreement with the Houston Texans. John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the deal is worth $23 million over four years and has $6.5 million guaranteed.

If you line the pats roster against many other teams the years they won the SB it didn't really stand out. What they did was get alot out of players who know how to play their roles. Thats what tannenbaum and Mangini are trying to do. Sign alot of players for less money and try to get the most out of those players they can. The way you do good in free agentcy is by signing role players big name FA's are busts the vast majority of the time.

ESPN's crawler is reporting the same thing. If they are right about the money it's crazy. No way Green has that much left to command that much money.

Just another example why you let these idiots blow their wad week 1. Still TONS of quality FA's out there who will come much cheaper next week.

If all of the free agents are "overpaid" then maybe none of them are. You can't compare this year to prior years and place the same value on the new contracts as the old ones. The TV money went up last year and went up more this year. The contracts only seem ridiculous because many of you are living in the past. In this year's market, a starting guard (top 5 free agents anyway) is worth $7 mil. Either you pay the price or you settle for a lesser player at that position. Green's contract is no more ridiculous than the contracts the Jets will sign later on when the first tier guys are gone.
