in my views this is a very good deal for us.. thomas has proven he is an ever down back who can break tackles pretty easily very strong runner

no I was wrong. I was reading a post from above. The espn article says it's their 2nd-rounder this year.

That's what confused me. Their 2nd-rounder this year would carry the trade weight of their (late) 3rd-rounder this year. This is much better.

NYJ recieve: RB Thomas Jones & 2007 2nd round pick (63rd overall)

&

CHI recieve: 2007 2nd round pick (37th overall)

Decent move, not really excited at all though. My attitude hasn't changed and I'm actually more pissed than pleased that we'd give up a Top 40 pick for a 29 year old running back. I guess we'll see in due time.

Thomas Jones, very good back but he is 29 and who knows if he's just a product of that very good Chicago Offensive Line. I'd rather have a 22 year old rookie, we'll see what happens.

It is very similar to trading out late 2nd-rounder for him. Technically, trading down from #37 (530 pts) to #63 (276 pts) has the "even-up" trade value of pick #67 (255 pts). So it's like we traded the 3rd pick in round 3 for Thomas Jones.

which IS a good deal

Great deal FO. I can't wait to see T. Jones score some touchdowns in green; he will be an excellent compliment to Leon.

Now lets improve the trenches and get a decent CB.

P.S. I just got home and didn't read all of these posts... but the deal was our 2007 second round (#37 pick) for THEIR 2007 second round (#63 pick)... still have two second round picks.

... damn... too late...

Now that I know we get their 2nd rounder this year and Thomas Jones for 37 I feel better about it. We still have 2 picks in round 2. I actually think its a pretty good deal now.

Indeed..basically dropped down around 25 spots(give or take a few). Had it been for a 2nd rounder next year i wouldn't be very happy, but like SE says...its a good deal since its this years.

You have to put things in perspective we will not get the next Jim Brown out there- teams are winning with shared runnung backs including guess who the Bears last year.

Jones added and we still have two second round picks is a good deal.

4H is creaming his shorts over bringing in Thomas Jones.;-)

We'll see what happens. Pretty good freakin' deal to land a starting Running Back by only having to move down about 25 slots in the 2nd round so not bad, we'll see what he can do. I'm 50/50 on this when usually I'm 110% hating a trade / signing or loving it. This one, my first ever 50/50, we'll see.

Thomas Jones is NOTHING special. Giving up our high 2nd for him is a complete and utter TRAVISTY. How is a back who has 1300 carries on his back and is 30 friggen years old worth a friggin 2nd round pick? This FO is offically a joke.

I'm really shocked at anyone that thinks this is a bad trade. Unless you wanted to trade up for peterson, this was a great deal. We get the big starting back that had a great season last year, while splitting time with another rb. He will be doing the same thing and I'm hoping will be just as effective. Great job tanny.

Dude we also got a 2nd round pick....This is a steal

I wasnt too excited about Jones originally, but I like this trade. HOWEVER...i hope the contract they work out is reasonable. NOTHING LONG TERM...guy is almost 30.
