Greg Olsen should be our 1st round draft pick

BoomBoom - I agree 100%. If Olsen is there the Jets will pick him. He would take care of two needs 3rd WR and TE. We could then run a lot of two TE formations and stretch plays to either side.

Seriously, I can't see how you could think this post is nuts. It makes perfect sense.

The Jets will never utilize the TE position fully until Chad is gone. His arm isn't strong enough to gun the deep seam and our coaches are smart enough to not even try it. It's not like Chris Baker sucks, he's actually a very good receiving TE - just not in our scheme.

We hardly throw to our tight ends as it is..they're a non-factor..I want to upgrade other areas first..we need lineman and a cornerback..

Taking a tight end makes no sense..

Stretch what?Pennington is the problem with the stretching, not our tight ends.

The New York Jets should NOT draft Tight Ends. Greg Olsen is a nice combine story and yes he came from the U and yes he played in my old hometown of Wayne, NJ (Wayne Hills) and he would sell TONS of jerseys but... no thanks. He's not as good as Jeremy Shockey and he doesn't have Shockey's attitude either.

that could be a good thing about not having Shockey's attitude...hey no way the Jets should EVER draft a TE in the 1st round again-they are never worth what you use up on them-they don't produce enough except in rare situations every decade or so...

Chad can throw the deep seam across the middle of the field pretty well..

Its the sideline to sideline throw that really require the arm stregnth.

Olsen is a BIG TARGET

something Chad hasn't had. Chad can get away with those floaters with a 6'6 260 lb man there.

Heath Miller would have been nice..

Better than Jolley and Nugent.

Wow BoomBoom I'm very impressed. Great post. This is very true. Baker is servicable at TE - but doesn't compare to what Olson could become.

What the heck POTW.

I sincerely doubt that Olsen will there at #25. His combine results were very flashy (especially his reported 4.51 in the 40 yard dash). Someone will bite.

But, especially now that NE has stocked up on them, there might be one or two very tempting WRs from which to choose. Its not the way I would like to see them go, but having signed Coleman and assuming Carriker is long gone, WR may represent the BAP.

Yep, the mock drafts I have seen that have the Bungles taking him seem realistic.

When push comes to shove I think the Bengals will take a defensive player. But if Lynch is not there for the Packers then I think they will take Olsen (or Jarrett).

Favre can still hit that middle seem :)

Well considering the fact that the Jets have not utilized the TE as a major part of their offense since the days of Shuler and Johnny Mitchell I doubt the Jets, even if Olsen was there would be chosen.

Olsen had a great combine which makes me even more leary. I like the combine for some things but the combine isn't everything. I would want to see alot of film on this guy and see if he really is a football player and if he has a passion for the game.or (Mike Mamula for example).

I do though like the idea of having a guy like a Gates, or a Gonzalez being a part of this offense. I though would have alot of concerns about Olsen.

The Jets should go OL or DL with the first pick if a top guy is out there.

He is a talented player, but didnt show much heart and passion. Then again, as I posted previously, not many UM offensive players played with a lot of heart last year under coker. He strength is as a receiver but he wasnt much of a blocker.
