The New York Jets announced today the signing of defensive end Kenyon Coleman to a contract. The announcement was made by Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

“Kenyon Coleman is a physical defensive lineman and we like his size and strength up front,” Tannenbaum said. “He has experience playing the 3-4 defense and we’re looking forward to having him be a part of our organization.”

Coleman, going into his sixth season in the NFL, played in all 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2006, registering four sacks and batting down two passes while recording 31 tackles.

Coleman, originally a fifth-round draft selection (147 th overall) of the Oakland Raiders in the 2002 draft out of UCLA, played four seasons for the Cowboys after spending his rookie season with the Raiders.

“I’m excited to be a part of the New York Jets organization,” Coleman said. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to play for Coach Mangini and help the team in any way I can.”

Kimo will back up at DE and DT. I still would like to see the Jets spend a first or second round pick on the DL. I think DB is more likely now, or offense, since they have alot of DLs: Ellis, D-Rob, Kimo, Coleman, Hamilton, Moore, Puoha, the guy from the Vikes, etc.

Is this move going to get the Jets to the SB?

When is the FO going to doing something REAL?

Why was Mangini at some awards breakfast in Bumfuk, Wherever over the weekend?

Kenyon's a bum, he's too old, too much mileage.

What good is it if Chad still cant throw deep?

Is this guy going to be a cap hit after he proves to be useless?

We still havent caught up to the Pats, so why is this important?

If you cant see the sarcasm here, dont even think about replying.

I think they will bring in OG/OT and DB via FA yet. Then it will frustrate all you mocker drafters and competition teams alike as it will boil down to BPA all the way.

Good Signing. Now lets get a Massive run stopping DT.

The number you have dialed is no longer in service...

lol - there really iant a big NT out there that would be an upgrade over what we have.

Very good signing and our DE situation seems to be set with Ellis, Kimo, Kenyon & Bobby Hamilton, who also re-signed with the team today.

This is a great signing I agree with you, but didn't we cut Hamilton ?

Lets hope this guy is not Kimo Von Old crap part 2...

Is that a serious post? He is like 7 or 8 years younger than Kimo...

So younger FA's are never busts?

Considering instead of using his real name you made a joke at Kimo being old.... I figured you were saying that at 28 Coleman is too old...

Next time dont hint at it being an age thing, if you didnt mean it to be.

I've been calling him Kimo Vonoldcrap since they signed him. Any FA could be a bust no matter what age they are.

Of course some younger FAs bust. Some are also backups who are starting to come into their own. He's a true 3-4 DE with some upside. At least give the guy a chance to put on a Jets jersey before you break out the old "B" word.

We're filling holes with capable players to give us more flexibility in the draft.

I'm not saying he's a bust. I'm just saying this guy has been a career backup so i'm not gonna jump up and down over the signing but i won't kill it either.

Sands is not a NT.

They re-signed Hamilton today. Must have had a roster bonus due that they wanted to avoid.
