CoachTsurfing
At the start of the season I would agree. D-rob came on strong the last few games he had. I think with some more good coaching he will do fine. But, I do think we payed way too much for him.
DefenseWinsChampionships
If he can't play NT then what use is he? Late 1st rounder? Early 2nd?? Have you watched the JEts games at all last season? D-Rob played great as the NT in the 3-4 for the simple fact it was his 1st year as the NT in the 3-4...

Sperm Edwards
DRob has zero chance of being moved this year. It's cheaper to keep him and there are no replacements available. There are no 3-4 NT's in FA. There is no 3-4 NT in the draft who one could reasonably expect to become a starter. One of them may be good eventually, but there are no "sure thing" Wilforks or Ngatas or Hamptons in this draft. We would never get a top-50 pick for him. Possibility of a late 2nd-rounder to just the right team.

BP
I wouldn't mind seeing D Rob moved to DE if we can get a big fat slob to clog up the middle at nose tackle..move Ellis to Right end and have D Rob play left end. The problem is finding a productive fat nose tackle.

Gainzo
If he was a FA right now he would get alot of money... I doubt that. The guy is way to inconsistent. Career stats for the "bowling ball with knives" 61 games, 132 tackles and 10 sacks.

I'm in total agreement with madmike for the 2nd time in like 10 minutes. NT's are impossible to find. Less than 1 comes out every year. When a team finds a good one, they never let go unless they have a replacement lined up (or expect to be able to get one in the draft like Baltimore did). (Except Bradway, who let go of Fergie so James Reed could start in his place. Idiot.)

CoachTsurfing
Man Gainzo, two times tonight I've agreed with you. I'm getting scared. D-rob was o.k. last year. Everyone is raving about him because he finally showed up and did something this season. I would trade d-rob and our first pick to the skins in a heartbeat. #27TheDominator
If he was a FA right now he would get alot of money... He will, but I'm not sure he'll get what we're supposed to pay him next year. We'd better start lining up a replacement or that $9M or so he's due for '08 will look cheap compared to the guaranteed money we'll be offering IF a decent FA is available. I'm betting they renegotiate him.

Can't see them paying him $9M. Sperm thinks he's guaranteed to get cut (w/o renegotiating) and I tend to agree. Funny to hear you, of all people, show confidence in this FO. They let Clements walk and basically have no RT. What makes you think they insist on having an NT lined up?

I completely agree with that - except I would leave ellis where he is - he is a natural L.E. - but with a big beast in the middle move d-rob to the R.E. , he would be great over there since he has the speed to get those occasional sacks too! #27TheDominator
Look at this mock draft I know this supposed to be about DRob, but I checked out the whole mock. This is obviously pre-combine. Things change so fast that it seems like there are a whole bunch of crazy premises and guys that don't belong. I need practice before the mock-draft, so here is my nitpicky analysis: Branch at #2? No way. Seems too lazy. Even a moron like Millen would have to trade down with CJ, Peterson and Joe Thomas available if he's looking for Branch. Many have Okoye rated higher at this point. Drafting the home town boy in the first round is a sure way to screw yourself, but the Lions are good at that. Ginn at #7? He'll have to run super fast at pro-day. I'd be shocked if Ginn and Jarrett are the 2nd and 3rd wr taken. One may go 2nd or 3rd, but not both. I'm betting Jarrett takes a big slide after his 40 time comes out. All those dbs and no Houston? I'm not seeing it. Hall might go first, but I can't imagine too many others going ahead. Especially at cb. I thought Nelson ran himself out of the 1st or at least waaaaay down with his 40 time. NFL.com has him at 4.48, but I heard reports of 4.6. Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else. Landry will go before him. They got that right. Quentin Moses at 22? No way. 245 and 4.8+ don't go well together. He supposedly looked bad at OLB in workouts and doesn't have the weight to play DE in the 3-4. Maybe with Dallas changing coaches, they may have a spot for him, but not at 22. He's probably out of the 1st at this point. Pats trading up for Ted Ginn is a joke. They might get him there as it is and with Meachem and Rice still on the board is crazy. Especially with the recent Welker signing for return duties. Carriker will go way before #29. Possibly as high as 11 and if he is there at 25 the Jets will be running to the podium. Tank Tyler would be nice for the Jets, but not at #25 and NOT with Carriker on the board. Tyler weighs about 310 and there are questions about his work ethic and intelligence. He's been described as "more of a 1 gapper" and has had some issues-ejection for spitting, arrest for assaulting a police officer. Not 1st round material-particularly for Mangini and certainly not "allowing them to get rid of Robertson who has been a bit of a bust in New York." Not this year anyway. Also, Denver's big need for a cb is out the window. Adding Dre Bly to Champ Bailey changes that.

I wasn't putting you, or even that mock, down. It was done too long ago to really be accurate. Only reason I went through the whole thing is because I just started looking into it for the JN mock draft. I don't see the Jets going with Tank in the first. Too many character issues.
