ESPNews reports the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a deal with WR Joe Horn (Saints). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Great pick-up for the Falcons and it gives them a proven veteran who can catch the ball for either Vick or Schaub.

I'm a Joe Horn fan. Good luck in Atlanta!

This, to me, is the biggest surpirse of FA. I know this is a business, but GAWD DAMN it was cold-hearted, new jack city style, mafia, gangsta, bull $hit to cut Horn. After all he has done for NO? WOW!

Now, justice is served. This is typical Saints killin' karma. Horn will destroy NO twice a year. Write it down, take a picture, I don't giva f^ck!

I disagree, Colston , and Devery Henderson made him very expendable

I'm not talking about skill, fuel in the tank, etc. I mean Joe Horn has been the face of the franchise and the player most NO citizens identified with. Horn reached out to the community, gave back, etc. Horn showed emotion in media interviews and showed he truly cared about the city he played in; pre and post katrina. I guess what I am saying is that I think the Saints Org. disrespected Horn by parting ways before even asking if he would mind restructuring his contract. They made no effort to retain him.

I do agree he got screwed over, but it had nothing to do with restructuring or anything:

“Right now it’s going around that (the Saints) wanted to restructure my contract and I asked to be released, but this has nothing to do with money,” Horn said. “I wanted to retire as a Saint. I’ve been through hell and back for that city and that organization. If I wanted out of New Orleans that bad, I would have just lkept my mouth shut and let them move the team to San Antonio.

“I just don’t think (head coach) Sean Payton wanted me back. I asked to be released because I felt betrayed by a head coach who wanted to prove he could win without Joe Horn.”

unless they could have managed to keep him for a modest amount of money which I have no idea about, then I think you need to let him go. I have to believe he was probably in the laters years of a contract he signed, and would have cost the Saints much more money than he was worth, and maybe more than they could afford. The saints have three very talented young up and coming wide recievers in Marques Colston, Devery Henderson, and Terrance Copper. The last thing I would do as a GM is pay for a guy who is getting up there in age, is coming off a season with injuries, and has younger, cheaper and arguably better personel at the position. Sometimes its worth to keep the good guys of the team around, but not when its so obviously cost efficient not to.

You are absolutely correct, but I always have a hard time picturing these guys who move on after so many years with the same team (i.e. Broadway to the Rams). Hell, a few years ago, I would not have been able to name another palyer, besides Horn, on the Saint's roster. Now, he's a Falcon? Just takes some getting used to I guess; call me old fashioned.

Saints fans are livid. He is the biggest traitor walking the earth according to them. The Falcons are to the Saints as the Patriots/Dolfish are to the Jets. (A little S.A.T. prep for ya)

I hear you. There definitely is more of a buisness edge in repect to team rosters in Pro sports than there was 20 years ago

As there should be... players care more about money, teams should care more about business and not feelings...

They shouldn't be. They released him and Sean Payton according to Horn did not like Horn. The Saints fans should not be against Horn, they should still love him for all he did for the franchise, especially after Katrina.
