A-ZONE
How many touchbacks Nugent had last year and what the average starting field position was for opposing teams??
JETSFAN5180
It wasnt that many if any.The guy can kick field goals. But FIELD POSITION on kickoffs is another thing.
A-ZONE
Exactly my point! something I have been pondering. Now consider Brad Smith be named 3rd QB in essence opens a roster spot. Im thinking maybe just maybe a kick off specialist take that spot. Sounds crazy but field position is key and in the playoffs even more.
4HCrew
not a crazy idea at all..actually I think it could be a very good one
A-ZONE
I do too 4H, if there is a leg out there who can consistently get it in the end zone I would grab him.
green_blood
im sure that kicker that was the cowboys kicker and kicked for new orleans could get sent over here for something like a twin pack of twinkies and a starbucks double mocha doubleshot. I know some teams have done this before and the Jets prolly have the best situation to try this with.
Bravejamriot
crazy idea but.... John Hall as a kickoff specialist? I once saw him kick it through the uprights on a kick off. That and I love watching him go after the returner

CoachTsurfing
Not too sure on this one. I like Nugent, but if we can find kick off specialist he should be able to kick field goals also. And if that is the case we might as well sign a new guy to do both and then get rid of Nugent. I did read some where that Nugent is working out hard this off season to improve his leg strength. So maybe he can improve on kick offs this season.

That would be crazy, Nuge is very accurate and was nearly lights out last season all except the Titans game... you dont throw that away for a guy with a monster leg... Nuge can hit 50 yard kicks... if he cant get the ball deeper on KO's Im sure they will try and teach Grahm to KO... Hang time is the most important thing about a KO... if he can work on getting a ball to the 10 yard line with GOOD hang time... our guys will be right there and teams will start on the 15-25 yard line. A kick off specialist is a serious weapon we can have. Nuge will never get it deep consistently but he is accurate on field goals. If there's a kicker out there who could just nail it everytime deep lets get him.
