You're a smart guy, I'm a smart guy, we both love the Jets...we just happen to disagree on this subject. I simply think a lot more of Thomas Jones then you obviously do. I've liked him since his days at UVA and I think he will fit in perfectly here with Leon and Ced. He's a young 29 and should have 2 or 3 very productive seasons left in him before he starts breaking down. I also like that he has bad weather and big game experience. I am also confident that now that we finally have a real HC in place that we will make significant progress as a team. Yes we have holes...but if we get stability (Chad or Clemens) at the QB position, the way this league works, I see no reason we cant be contenders in 2008. The days of the 5 year plan are long gone in the era of the cap and FA. So lets just say we agree to disagree on Jones ability and see how it plays out. In the meantime, sorry if I got testy with you. I forget that I am relatively new here and you guys arent as used to my combative style as the guys on Addicts are. Peace... Jones is no sure thing but I really like the guy...have since his college days. No, he's not going to bust many 50 yarders, but he's a solid, grind it out at 4+ a pop back that will wear down the D, break the occasisonal 20+ run and make it easier for Leon to break the big ones when he's in there. As far as articulating your position and presenting facts about that position you are as good as any Jet poster on the Jet message board planet. If I ever had a criticism about you it pertains to what happened with the posters who disagreed with your stance about Jones. You will never change anyone's opinion when you get into it on a subject on an internet board. No one likes to lose face when they are posting in front of 1000 other people. You have to know when to back off instead of continuing the fight. This is not to say I am agreeing or disagreeing with anyone on the Jones issue, just saying that there comes a time when you just can't win. Now if you had this discussion in a bar with someone there's a chance you might get someone to say you are right or even you might see the other guy's postion, but not on a message board. Its a tough call, hes got everything you look for...excpet the arm. He is clearly in the bottom 20% of syartring QBs in terms of arm strength but my hope is anohter year removed from the surgery will improve that. I have also seen many QBs with far less talent then Chad go to SBs. I think what we do know is he cannot carry a team to a SB like a star QB might...but given the right supporting cast, I am not writing off the possibility he can be our guyy just yet. I am a major combatant over at JA. Funny thing is (and Jetman57 can atest), some of my longest and best friends on the JA board started out as heated battles on one subject or another. Anyway, I'm kind of a newbie here so I didn't want to overstep so soon. I get worked up pretty easiliy. I am sure we'll battle again (especially when Thomas rushes for 130 on opening day!!!!) but just know I always have respect for anyone who refutes me with logical fact based arguements...even when I fly off the handle! That ChadHarmwhatever guy decided to take a childish pot shot to my original post...and his arguements made far less sense then yours did! Whatever.
