4HCrew
actually what has he won in college? the jets tired out under him but at the same time I think he had players like Mawae and J Abe under mining him
Scott Dierking
Al Groh did a very good job here, in what was close to an impossible situation to walk into. The grousing that some of the players did, and the veteran leadership of the New York Jet players should be ashamed for how they handled the Al Groh tenure. By the end of the season when the games were the most meaningful, the team had no gas left in the tank. was he a good coach? Yes. Could he coach a team for the full season & into the playoffs? NO! He would make a great assistant coach in the Pros though.

jetfuel
actually what has he won in college? the jets tired out under him but at the same time I think he had players like Mawae and J Abe under mining him They were undermining him because his attitude does not fly in the NFL. He would force players to practice when they were injured (not hurt but injured) and run them into the ground in practice in an unintelligent way. Mangini beats on his guys but not to the extent of overdoing it where people get hurt. I wasn't saying that Groh has won much in college, only that he can get away with being who he is in college. Why are we talking about this piece of garbage again? Him going to Virginia was the best thing that ever happened to the Jets!

Because of the timing, we were saddled with Herm for 5 years.

So, it would have been better to have a coach that the team quit on after about 8 games? As much as I don't like Herm, he did make the playoffs 3 times which is more than I can say for any other Jets coach. Don't get me wrong I'm glad Herm's gone but Groh is a complete failure. green_blood
al groh represented the last of the old parcellian jets. obviously, the guy cant even wipe his own ass, even at u.v.a., so would the jets have won. probably no, if the jets didnt go to herm and went to another coordinator after groh, would the jets have won? no one knows, but im happy with the situation right now. That was the icing on the cake with Groh. He quit just in time for us to hire Herm Edwards. The team went to the playoffs while Herm was coach; he didn't "take" the team there. 2001 was a joke. We beat a bunch of horrible teams by like 1 point. 2002 was the only time in recent memory that 9-7 won the division. 2004 was an insanely easy schedule. Don't make it sound like he overcame tremendous odds due to his great coaching. These teams could have easily eclipsed 9-10 wins with a real HC. And F-Groh. AMEN! I don't even know why we are talking about this fool Groh. He's history and so is Herm and thank the lord for that. We have a great regime in here now so let's be happy for that and stop living in the past. I've been a fan since the early 80's so believe me I've had to let go of a lot of past. When did I say that Herm overcame anything? When did I say he is a great coach? If I ever say that you'll have to check the water I'm drinking. I also never said they could'nt do better without him. All I was saying is that he's had a lot more success in the NFL than Groh who couldn't even last a year in the league. I said I was glad that Herm is gone. I was just pointing out that as the HC of the Jets he made the playoffs three times. The guy is gone and I couldn't be happier. I am full on board with Mangini and I hope Herm wins 12 games combined in the next six years. Anyway, we need to let Herm and Groh and what could have or should have been go now because this is Mangini's team. Let's worry about what can be this year. J-E-T-S .... JETS JETS JETS!!!! PeterNorth09
Al Groh and Bill Parcells traded Keyshawn Johnson in his prime for John Abraham and Anthony Becht. Then, a year later, they both quit and leave town like a couple of f*cking sissies. Granted I think Keyshawn is maybe the most overrated receiver of all-time but he was in his prime here and the 2000 Jets with Keyshawn would have not only made the playoffs but maybe even a Super Bowl run. Instead we got two first round picks that turned into the most overrated, injury prone DE in the league and an ok tight end. Al Groh can suck a d*ck. He screwed us over in 2000 and then subsequently screwed us over 6 years later by pawning off a 280 lb finesse player on us as a "franchise left tackle". I hope UVA wakes up and fires this punk. Has Max ever said anything on why he was banned? He must have done something... Maybe it was a PM to a mod or max... Who knows... But believe me you, you just dont get banned on JN for no reason. Put it this way... I was banned at GangGreen in less than 2 weeks because I called one of the mods a drunk... I think his name was dinbot... And I dont know WTF happened at JI but I cant post there anymore for over a year 1/2 now... No warning, no explination, no nothing... lol... But I like JN more than JI or GG combined anyway... But to make a long story short... You really have to fuuck up here at JN to get banned.
