Kuhn lorded over baseball during 15 tumultuous years that saw players gain free agency and start the spiral of multi-million dollar salaries. Bob
He abused his office, claiming he was acting "in the best interests of baseball." I remember in 1984, Graig Nettles said, "Bowie Kuhn finally did something in the best interests of baseball. He quit."

mbn007
R.I.P. I do not agree with everything he did, but Baseball grew during his tenure.
Jet/BosoxFan
R.I.P. I do not agree with everything he did, but Baseball grew during his tenure. I too have mixed feelings on Kuhn. He helped push baseball towards a path of least resistance to pro football. It'd be interesting if Kuhn stood up to the TV networks and took pro football on when baseball STILL had a chance. On the other hand, he was a hell of a lot smarter than anybody who succeeded him with the possible exception of Fay Vincent. F Graig Nettles. Nobody will start a RIP thread when he kicks the bucket, which by the way, cant happen soon enough!

Peter U. got that massive (at that time) TV contract when almost everyone around thought he had no shot.
