Xcel2NuFX
Seems like these guys are hard to find. Obviously someone in the 330+ class would be nice to bring in but do any have potential?

gang_green03
Some NT prospects are: Tank Tyler Paul Soliai Brandon Mebane I think Soliai would be a solid pick on day 2 for some depth, he has the potential to play the position well.
will
There are several college DTs that the Jets might draft and then move to DE, ala NE. The mock drafts are littered with guys that I've never heard of but who physically fit the bill - ie, 295+, 6'4" or taller.
Xcel2NuFX
we dont need a NT Really I never heard that we replaced D Rob... Lets be realistic D-Rob showed up half the time and whether its his knee problems or just lack of focus/effort he is not the type of NT that takes on two blockers at a time. Good names, all. I'd add Harrell to the list. If he falls to the Jets in the second round then I would expect them to jump on him. In fact, if the draft breaks badly for the Jets then I can see them taking him in the first round (ie, everyone drafts defense and the Jets are left with only DLs and WRs to choose from). But, Harrell would be a DE in the 3-4. He could be a good one though and I wouldn't mind him at all in the 2nd round. I agree, I could possibly see them taking him in the 1st depending on how well he works out.

I guess ultimately he will be a 3/4 DE but, if he can stay healthy, he will help immediately in both spots (DE and DT). He's supposed to be very intense. chad2colesin06=---
we dont need a NT hahaha, this is the biggest need our run d was dead last in 06 and the main weak spot in a bad 3-4 run d is the NT, tank tyler would be a good pick at 25, hes the second rated nt according to scouts inc. NT is not our biggest need on the D-line, DE is. Drob is about the same size as Wilfat up in NE... he can play the position becuase he is short and has good leverage... How is DE our biggest need? 3-4 DE's are relatively easy to find later in the draft. You don't need them to have pass rush speed or coverage skills. All you need are lunch pail types who will do their job. In fact it might be better if D-Rob starts playing DE and we get a true plug for the middle. BTW BITONTI - What's the deal with Tank Tyler? I notice you don't have the guys name listed anywhere on your D-Lineman page. I don't know that much about him, so is the omission purposeful or just a slip up? D-Rob played all over the D-Line last year and I'm not saying he doesn't belong on the field but as a NT in the 3-4 I don't really think its a match made in heaven. I don't see how DE is something the coaching staff plans on adressing after resigning Hamilton bringing in Coleman and retaining Von Olenhoffen. He weighed in at 309 at the Combine, and could probably add a little weight. But he's already known as one of the stoutest DTs in the nation. Definitely would take a little development and coaching up, but he could be a nice NT down the road. He's also a high character guy with a non-stop motor. I would LOVE to see Mebane in green and white.

Not sure about Bit's reasoning, but a 4-3 NT does not have to weigh as much as a 3-4 NT. There are a lot of teams playing cover 2 or Tampa 2 that need an NT, but not necessarily a huge 2 gap guy. The Rams for one will surely be looking for an NT, but their options are more open than the 3-4 teams. Remember, James Reed was only slightly undersized as a cover 2 NT. I don't see how DE is something the coaching staff plans on adressing after resigning Hamilton bringing in Coleman and retaining Von Olenhoffen. If that's addressing DE, we are in a world of trouble. They cut Bobby Hamilton and brought him in on a cheap salary without paying his roster bonus. He and Kimo have one foot in the grave. I'd be very surprised if one doesn't retire in '07. IMHO, they only kept Kimo to have a guy at the spot after determining he is better than Bobby H. Coleman may be a nice pickup, but they'd better not be done. Coming back with the guys from '06 and Coleman means we don't have to draft a DE early, but young blood is required. Now it can come on the second day. but it had better still come. Those guys are basically camp fodder.
