MTJ06
-- Lions Eyeing Trent Green -- Sat Mar 24, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com The Kansas City Star reports signs are mounting that the Chiefs will trade QB Trent Green to the Miami Dolphins. A source indicated a deal between the Chiefs and Dolphins could be reached as soon as the annual NFL meetings, which begin Sunday in Phoenix. But the possible trade was suddenly complicated by other developments Friday. The Detroit Lions contacted the Chiefs this week and were interested in discussing a deal for Green. Chiefs GM Carl Peterson will meet with his Lions counterpart, Matt Millen, in Phoenix. The Lions' offensive coordinator is OC Mike Martz, who once worked with Green with the Rams. Detroit also runs an identical offensive system. [Green's agent Jim] Steiner wouldn't talk about Green's interest in playing for the Lions. "I haven't spoken with Detroit," Steiner said. "I have no way of knowing at this point that they are interested in Trent." If the lions get Green alot of other QB movement could come out of this. Do they cut kitna, Josh m, and then where does Quinn go in the draft or do they draft Quinn so that green can mentor him or are the Chiefs just trying to bump his price? Afinogenov
I don't like this, if the Dolphins don't get Green that could lead to them making a run at Carr; I would much rather see Green in Miami next season than Carr.

Afinogenov
Green in 07' > Carrr in 07'I see Carr being much better than Green in 07 mainly because Green is getting a year older and they had similar stats last season.
Boozer76
Green in 07' > Carrr in 07' I would like to see Carr play on a team that actually blocks for him before I go that far.
faba
Carr needs a chance to show whether he is a bonafide QB -Detroit should be knocking on his door to sign him IMO instead of looking at a 36 year old trent Green.

Green sat out for a while for his injury and was thrown back in too quick... I would like to see Carr play on a team that actually blocks for him before I go that far. I know... I just think Green is more of a threat in 07'... He is better to step in and play good... Carr needs to get rid of his nightmares of being murdered by the Dline first... Ghost
If they draft Quinn, which is going to be the worst move that franchise made since drafting three WR's in a row, I think would be one of the biggest busts.

Carr has to get over his happy feet before we can even see if he can be a solid starter. Green has already proven to be a pretty good QB and, while on the downside of his career, is still a solid starter. I'd rather see Carr and on top of that Miami doesn't have the greatest o-line in the world. Green would be more of a threat at this point.
Jetlag
I actually agree with Ecurb. Trent Green will have a better season in '07 than David Carr. Carr has been shellshocked and never has been able to put a solid season together. Trent Green has had pro-bowl seasons and has proven skills. Plus there is more than one example of a seasoned vet moving on and having success. (Example: Vinny T, Randle Cunningham, Trent Dilfer, Doug Flutie...) That said Trent Green still ends up at -4 in the TD/INT ratio.
Sperm Edwards
Trent Green sucks now. He looked like a totally different QB after he came back. Looked like he was in afraid-to-get-hit mode. His otherwise VERY accurate arm was all over the place. Careless picks he never threw before. He'll still look good to a team in workout/physical, but I think he's done. Will probably still have a solid game or two left, but that head injury really messed him up. He could recover, but he's not a 29 year-old recovering from that; he's closer to 40 than 30. The thing is, Carr has looked like that virtually his entire career. Every season is: is this the year he finally puts it together? At some point you realize that he was just Charlie Batch with a stronger arm who never got injured & was given more opportunity b/c he was the #1 pick. I don't care which one goes to Miami; it's all good for us in both short and long term. One's a has-been & the other is a never-was.

I just hope that which ever one the Dolphins sign gets a nice big long term deal. I think Carr has a slim chance to turn out, but he needs to go someplace and sit for awhile. A place where, if they use him, there will be low expectations.
